I have made this type of chain for years. This is the first time I have seen a video on it. I do it a little different. I start with coiling wire on a marker or a 1/4 inch dowel. Cut them apart and open up the jump ring, put loops on each end going towards the center of the ring, push together. My links are smaller and more compact. I love your design.

Love learning about wire wrapping. I have so many jewelry pieces from beading I couldn’t possibly wear them all and haven’t had any success with selling them so I am looking for wire wrapping ideas for things other than jewelry like household items, clothing, and/or decor?

Thanks Samantha, I love your videos. I was wondering if you ever put a patina on your copper pieces or just let them darken naturally?
@samanthalatimer1
@samanthalatimer1 5 ай бұрын
Hello 👋 Thank you… that’s very kind of you 😍 I do sometimes patina my pieces, but usually I tend to wear bare copper as I just love the colour. When I’ve sold my work in the past, I’ve always offered bare or patina. I don’t let it darken as I’m not keen on that, and I tend to treat with Renaissance Wax or indeed, just clean my pieces before I wear them 🥰

@samanthalatimer1
@samanthalatimer1 Ай бұрын
I’m so sorry I’ve only just seen this, Bronwyn 🫢 I’d make the chain as long as you need, and then the last link, make the loops, and when you’re ready to attach the link the first link, just open the loops sideways and pop the unlooped side onto the loops and close them up. 😍

My pliers don't have the 2mm setting, what's the ratio used so I can adapt it to a 3mm circle?
@samanthalatimer1
@samanthalatimer1 2 ай бұрын
Ooh I’m not sure. Not made a 3mm version yet. Just try adding half a cm at a time when you’re creating the link and see how you get along. It’ll not take many samples for you to hit on the correct length or guage of wire. This demo is just an idea for you to experiment with 😍

@@samanthalatimer1 Yes & I definitely need to get those bail 6 in 1 pliers, could you recommend a quality brand please , or is it a case of you get what you pay for kinda thing? On eBay I’ve seen a pair for £22 and i don’t know what the large wrap & tap ones are for ,I’m assuming to make jump rings or bigger loops? My two pairs of roundnose ones I’ve had from 30 years 😁
@samanthalatimer1

@@kraftykym8627 the wrap and tap pliers are great for shaping things… so sort of forming arches and half moon shapes in bangles etc. so they’re a great asset to your tool collection. I’ve tried a few brands over the years but I just LOVE my 2-9mm pliers from PTL Prestige. They’re not expensive and they just work, so I don’t think you have to spend too much (which is always fab!)

@@samanthalatimer1 Thankyou so much for that info! Jewellery is just one of the many crafts that I practice, I must say when ever I’m in a charity shops I’m always on the look out for craft supplies and especially old tools, as they are generally half the price I can source online, I like to use pre- loved stuff and to be honest most of my tools were inherited from my grandad,car boot sales and the like . I used an ancient cobblers shoe iron for a hammering block but I think I deserve a nice new pair of shiny pliers! 😀🙏🏼❤️🌟
