It’s really simple guys, Trent’s been a nightmare defender for at least 4-5 seasons. He’s a midfielder NOT a right back. Liverpool should sell him now and stick with Conor Bradley. As for Andy Robertson, he should also be sold to a Championship team and replace him with a younger left back. His passing is overrated. He can't pass like Odergaard as a 10 centrally where time and space is compressed; he needs to be out-wide with three focal points to aim for. The reason he got so many assists is that Klopp used wingbacks as playmakers and stacked midfielders with athletes and asked them to plug all the gaps left by fullbacks. When the other side didn't get sucked into the press and kept a low-block, Klopp's 2020s midfield weren't especially creative and since everything went through Robertson/Trent, the attack was predictable and vulnerable to counter (because they'd just swarm Trent's side).

That experiment has been tried with Trent and didn't work. Pogba is much-maligned but he was more comfortable in that role; the game goes by Trent whenever stationed in the middle. Don't forget that Klopp made the wing-backs his playmakers and stacked the middle with athletes to fill in the gaps Robertson and Trent leave, hence why Trent (AND Robertson) get so many assists. The cost of that is a midfield fatigued and prone to injury, relatively poor creativity in the centre, and a predictable one-route attack. If by passing range you mean long balls, then I suppose. His crossing accuracy is comparable to most full-backs - Baines or Pereira for instance. He's very good at switching-play during transitions with three focal points to aim for, but his long-range passing accuracy is actually below-elite as a percentage; when you consider the enormous volume of forward passes he frankly spams (he's basically having to make twice as many passes and lose possession many more times than a KBD or Odergaard to match their productivity), and the fact that no player has lost possession more in the entire league since 2019 than him... It's a case of him making 5 long passes and admirers fixating on the 1 that works and ignoring the 4 that don't. So you have a central midfield that can't create because they're filling the space he vacates, one-dimensional playmaking which loses the ball half the time and becomes predictable against evenly-matched sides, a defensive liability which has been exploited by opponents for years, and a weak-link which shifts all the responsibility to VVD - who is probably the best ever Liverpool Prem player, not just defender, but the amount of work he has to do to compensate for TAA (and Robertson, but Robertson had power and stamina in his prime) is a small scandal.
