TRENTHAM HALL and the Story of TRENTHAM GARDENS: Playground of the Potteries

From the very beginnings of Trentham in the Dark Ages, this video shines a light on the various manifestations of Trentham Hall and Gardens, as they passed through the hands of the Leveson-Gower family and the Dukes of Sutherland. The grounds were developed by the legendary Capability Brown and the final Trentham Hall design was by Charles Barry - designer of the Houses of Parliament.
Extensive Film footage from the 1930s to the present day shows how, after the demolition of the Hall in 1911, the Gardens became a popular rendezvous for people from the Potteries and across the Midlands. The much lamented Hollywood-style Swimming Pool and Ballroom see the light of day again and are bound to bring on a bout of nostalgia.
