@@highnoon9333 I have good news and bad news. The bad news is that season's 1 and 2 are no longer available to watch on Netflix. However, season 3 is available! New episodes to watch (yeah!!!), but you can't go back to revisit the old ones (boo), and you'll likely want too after watching season 3.

My wife collects and wears antique shoes. Whenever she gets a new pair I immediately start conditioning them, usually three coats. It's like pouring water over one of those flattened, dried out sponges. You can almost watch the leather swell up as it absorbs the moisture and nutrients, and like someone else here said, it's more like watching a resurrection than a restoration. It's amazing how resilient leather is, even after being dried out for over 100 years.

Child of the 50's and 60's here. Don't know I get such pleasure out of watching you clean shoes and boots. Our footwear (shoes and boots for school and church) was cleaned and polished weekly. Don't know about my siblings, but I had great pride when I went to school wearing clean, polished shoes. As I got older (starting 11 or 12) I did my shoes myself. Cleaning/polishing ones shoes was a Saturday night ritual ....... got to watch Saturday Night At The Movies while doing my shoes. Got to see a lot of great movies.

9:55 in my line of work, use lots of shovels, jackhammers and such we were told not to have those kinds of soles for boots, that they tract too much dirt and you may get it in a customers house. So for the 35 plus years working there, no one did. Most got the Sears type that has the smooth bottom, framers boots I called them. I always wore Red Wings.

I am also a railroader and have been through many different brands/kinds of boots. Boots wear out fast working outside in all weather conditions 24/7/365 walking on rock ballast, hopping on and off cars, etc. I have found that Kenetreks, though more expensive, are the way to go. Built to withstand extreme mountain hunting conditions, so wear well railroading.

An Australian boot company called Blundstone had a boot in the 1980s which became a fashion item for ladies in England. Blundstone made a fortune, they enemy made beaut work boots for blokes. They had a medium hardness rubber combat boot tread on them and they were great. Then some genius decided to change to a poly urethane sole which was softer but which rotted and fell apart within 18 months. I bought a pair and tried to get some satisfaction under consumer warranty. They told me it was my fault and that I wasn't wearing them enough and that keeping them under my bed caused the problem. I felt aggrieved and never bought a Blundstone product since. Not trying to steal you thunder, I bet you blokes have a ton of stories to tell about boots. Good videos, regards, Stavros

I Imagine it's around the $150-$200 mark, but it's the sentimental value of keeping the boots going as opposed to throwing them out and buying new ones.
@danshakuimo3 жыл бұрын
I went to my local cobbler and a full resole was $95 dollars, which is the same price for that on CobblersDirect (which you can ship it in to get fixed). However, many of the repairs on this show actually include an "infrastructure upgrade" rather than a simple resole, so I wonder how much more that would cost too. Depending on quality of your boots (and sentimental value) it may or may not be worth doing a resole.
