Wow, sucks getting laid off but, way to go with a bold plan. It is a dying art so you have an opportunity to be very successful. My local guy stopped doing recrafting and is only doing minor repairs and resoles he has a 60 day wait. Best of luck to you!

Damn dude, you may want to consider conditioning these things on your own every once in a while lol. Those shoes were desperate for some moisture. They last longer when you take care of them, you know.

In addition to caring for your shoes, the best thing for a pair of shoes is to have two pair. The longevity of two pairs is worth it when you give them a day of rest in between wearing.

I've got a pair of 8109 moxfords and after three years of wear they look new--so the owner really wailed on these shoes. But I knew you could do it, and you did. Amazing restoration.

Red Wing no longer makes 8109. So, these could potentially be OLD old. A few comments up the owner mentions this was the fourth resole. They’re probably a few years older than yours. Great shoe, though.

Hi, I have a pair of RedWing 404 moc toe books I bought 50 years ago. Size 12 AA. I wore them maybe 10 days total before packing them in storage. Then forgot them since I had Redwing Linemans I liked better.I recently found them and they look almost new, except they are stiff and top of sides were close together. Without trying to open them, I brushed off any dust (no dirt, just dust from storage) cleaned with Fieblings "Glycerine" saddle soap. I did not totally wet them like I saw you do. I wiped the suds off as soon as I soaped up the whole boot. Twice. I then read the instruction. :-) It said rub a damp sponge on the bar and apply to leather, let it dry and then buff. So I did that too. I then rubbed Kiwi "Leather Lotion" on them and let it dry. After the first cleaning, they were flexible enough I could spread the sides and clean the tongue. They look great and the sides and tongue are more flexible but still feel stiff. What else can I do?? Thanks. Great videos.

Ya'll want to do a pair of house shoes? Were talking LL Bean style shearling lined. I want to convert them to a rubber traction bottom and replace the shearling on the inside bottoms. One has a small hole on the big toe area so I would like to do a leather bottom added before the rubber traction sole is glued. Love your channel btw!

Those are a heartbreaking shoe, cause they just aren’t good for rebuilding or repairing. The design isn’t bad, it just wasn’t designed for endless use. Personally I feel the pain, as I really loved hush puppies shoes. They had similar problems of construction. And it’s ironic that they also make some very good long lasting boots that are great for keeping long term. Congratulations to Trent and Heath for the amazing skills the rebuild was awesome! 🎊 🎉

This is a shoe that can be resoled many, many times, fairly easily, if you take care of the upper better than this pair, and don’t wait until they’re beat to hell. I get your sentiment, though. My only disagreement would be to say that comparing Red Wings to Hush Puppies is WILD!

@ it’s that squishy crepe rubber, that’s bonded, and such comfortable junk. Always gets dirty right away and smelly, with various things embedded into it. Looks like it should wear forever, but doesn’t. lol 😂 great stuff!

Saturday morning, my coffee's HOT, I have fresh 1/2 n 1/2 in it, and I have a cobbler video to enjoy with it. It's those LITTLE traditions that make life sweet. Love seein' some tired kicks like those getting much love! I'd've also hit all that interior lining with a good slathering of Bick4 as well. Sweet transformation of those. Red Wing doesn’t make that model anymore, but they’ve got similar ones. Heritage 8092 is super close. Pop it with boot oil a few times and you’ll have a very close look to this. They’re great shoes.

As a fellow cobbler for the past decade, I am curious as to what glue your using to adhere those meramec soles with. They look like they come pre primed( my preferred choice) Personally, I use CDC and heat and have been very pleased with the bond.

Hello. First of, I love your videos. I was wondering, and this might be a very stupid question, but in your process when you apply the glue, you let it dry into your little cabinet. I certainly don't know anything about glue. Does it stick better than glue and applying right away ? Sorry for the Noob question... Fab from France !
