Hey Trent! On Saturday I have my pilot license exam. And I wanted to thank you, the content you create is not only brilliant and awakens the imagination but also makes people start to realize their dreams. What I mean by this is that I dreamed of flying since I was a child, but the fact that I took a step and in two days I have an exam is partly your merit. All good brother and see you in the air someday! Regards from Poland!

@BrianRussTVC4 жыл бұрын
Probably not though unless he's got a commercial license. I don't really know how that works though.
@AaronRobertson4 жыл бұрын
I know people who use and write off expenses with a plane who are not commercial pilots. It can be done. Mostly write off costs and travel between seeing clients but was so effective with the cost he bought a more expensive and nicer airplane. Totally worth looking into to save some dough and offset the costs.
@Ishii-kun4 жыл бұрын
I mean, Trent has said before, the reason he got his pilot's license in the first place was because the FAA used to require it for the full size camera drone he flies for work (There's even pictures of it with a tail number on one of the strut arms) So it's really not that far fetched to use a light aircraft for business use. I believe you only need a commercial license if you're ferrying passengers (which he couldn't do anyways, as it is prohibited to carry passengers for compensation in an aircraft in the experimental category)
@kadmow4 жыл бұрын
And not as an Experimental. (verify with FAA and EAA)... (Ditto the commercial license thing) AP/Filming, Ag work, observation, inspection - these are all "non passenger carrying" commercial airwork. (Monetised youtube is a "hazy" area for ppl holders. Money being made from private pilot flying=commercial) Personal transport of the "owner" - to and from jobs - a valid write off. (?? get professional accounting advice)
@philconey114 жыл бұрын
Without a commercial ASEL cert he's not gonna be able to do that.

With your incredible cinematography abilities already in place this simply bumped it up a notch. Some of us might not have even noticed a difference if you hadnt created this video to expose it. Back in the early 90s I worked diligently to get a video camera on one of my RC planes but at the time of tape based video it would have required a plane which could accommodate a 2 lb. device - its amazing how far this concept has evolved. Keep up the great work.

Oh man I totally missed the boat when I had the opertunity to do remote cell tower surveys and inspections with large gas powered helicopters. This was way before quad copters were invented. I had been working in one of the oldest hobby shops on the entire west coast at that time. That was back before all this 3xas systems, and long before flybarless systems even existed. The earliest I can remember filming with a radio control aircraft was using Velcro to mount a original GoPro camera to the bottom of my decathlon and flying around our club field. What your doing is so far ahead. But then agin look where rc has gone recently with all the advances. You do some amazing stuff Trent. I don’t think most of your viewers realize what all goes into all this videography.

@quickdry34 жыл бұрын
nice! One little note for longevity - the yaw motor arm in the X5R (and I'm assuming the X5S and X7) is attached with a bolt through a paper thin bit of aluminium. That part carries the whole weight of the gimbal, camera, and lens. A shock can snap it, which results in shredded ribbon cables, MUCHO damage and a forced trip back to DJI's service dept (as I found out once when my excited dog knocked it off the table). I'm just concerned about that bit of metal fatiguing with landing stress, if you could jury rig some way of securing/supporting it when you don't need to film a landing, it'd save the life of that part. (I was in 'pucker mode' as you came in for a landing lol)
