As a kid I kinda hated this level not being able to see was a bit of pain. Having stumbled my way through it. But as an adult and knowing full well what happened to the Colony makes this music a bit more somber and makes the whole level give off a different vibe. It's dark because of the accident that happened and the only things that were left were some robots that belong to GUN which probably help kill the colonist during the raid so not only is it dark in terms of lighting but also historically...

@@theminecraft2516 Yeah, honestly. It only teaches the player how to get through a stage quick enough to get an S rank, not how to explore for lives (which Forces does NOT have, which is stupid. You should punish the player with more than just, "Oh no! You lost! Here, have a rank reduction." Which is something people don't care about a lot of times), or how alternate paths can be more or less dangerous and faster. See, Mania did the opening stage RIGHT. It shows you the different paths and opportunities you have for shields and extra rings as well as lives. It even pushes you into a special stage so you know, "Hey, look at these giant rings! They bring you somewhere *special."* And then in the second act, the special stages are hidden, the game's way of saying "Hey, these aren't going to be given to you, you're going to have to look for them."

Logan Pettit, I really think the lives system is stupid. Especially in much harder games like the Mega Man franchise. Punishing a player by sending straight to the start of a stage when they already proved they could go through that area is stupid to me. I rather have something like what Mario Odyssey does. In Odyssey, every time you die, you lose coins. Which makes progressing through the game and getting items that you like or would otherwise help you harder. It doesn’t eject you from the world, it just makes completing the game harder by removing some materials that help you complete stages, but it doesn’t completely remove your progress. Imagine instead of lives, or instead of having to restart a stage if you lost your lives, you had to forfeit some rings. With rings you could buy upgrades, extra lives, or things that could make going through a stage easier. You could even do what Sonic Forces does and depending on what difficulty you chose, you have more or less access to rings with some kind of cap or less rings in stages. I agree with everything else you said, but I really don’t think having the lives system in the state it’s usually portrayed in would make Sonic Forces any better.

This level and track did an excellent job at selling the mysterious and hauntingly dark aspects of the Space Colony Ark's history, and the tragedies that occurred there. The eerie and unsettling mood of something long abandoned and kept secret. The cryptic darkness of a dusty place where things had gone horribly wrong. The truth of the tragic and horrifying evil committed there long ago unknown to the world below. Left behind are no traces of the "accident" of 50 years ago...all that remains now are the lingering weaponed machines that guard it's halls.

I had a dream where Green Bomber from SBR was in a Robotnik mech in what looks like lost colony if it was extended by a few more minutes, and near the end it gets more slimy and after the stage is some slime bossfight that acts similar to egg golem in terms of how to kill it. I can't imagine what it would look like if this was a real thing that someone actually created. It was hella wierd, but kind of interesting in a way that I like. What's next, am I gonna dream about Aqua Bomber in Crazy Gadget?
