I feel the same way as Boracity Magazine about BTS... When I started liking them I gave a lot of K-pop groups a chance... I listened to a lot of songs and the more I listened, the more I became convinced that they all sounded the same to me. All idols work hard, don't get me wrong. It's just that BTS hits me in a different way and on many levels - not only musically, but emotionally, mentally, it makes me think, feel, ponder, wonder, question myself. I ended up listening to them and my favorite rock and metal tracks.

Yes, same here. I searched for new music everyday (I watch the charts of course😅) but nothing interest me like BTS did. When I listen to other group, might find one of two songs interesting but after that I got bored. It's catchy but not something I wanna hear again and again and again. No offence to other group, this is just my personal preference. I'm sure they are very talented and work hard also but their sound doesn't suit my taste.

Exactly, yes, yes, exactly, etc. Not to sound flippant, because, believe me when I tell you that when I first heard about BTS, it was from my nieces, I thought it was cute, and didn’t give it a second thought; until I kept hearing about them and, music buff that I am, I said; ok, I’m gonna see what all the ruckus is about, and not expecting much, did. For me, it was “Fake Love” that blew me away. It was, like “wait, what?! What did I just hear, see, experience?!” The song, the voices, the dance, the concept, the feeling and energy that come through. It was magical. I knew right then that these boys were special. Full package doesn’t even begin to describe each and every one of them. And we’ve seen the proof of that in their solo work, as well as as a group, Full on ARMY, here💜 Thanks for the reaction, guys!

Something very distinguishable about BTS for me was their vocal line, you have four very different voices that cover all ranges. I haven't heard other groups with such striking voices. You got V with his sultry, soulful voice. Jin with his silver voice. Jimin with his unique tone and super high voice. And Jk with his very modern sounding voice. It really ruined my experience when I tried listening to other singers in kpop, cuz they just weren't as interesting. I feel that BTS truly knows how to exploit their sound and make it exceptional

BTS constantly evolves as artists, both individually and as a group. They experiment with different sounds and concepts while staying true to their message, which keeps their music fresh and innovative. Their blend of talent, message, fan engagement, and global impact has made them stand out not just as K-pop stars but as global icons.

I used to listen in 2010 to 2NE1 and Big Bang bc a firiend recommended me their music so I checked their songs but that was it. I kept listening to some of their songs and I knew they were kpop but I honestly never got interest enough to search more kpop groups. That was until I discovered BTS in 2016 (their Fire MV was just released and I just saw it in my YT recommendations) and ngl I fell in love with them instantly and I remember watching all their MVs and downloading so many songs because all of them were so good + I started watching their shows, rookie king and more IN JUST 1 WEEK lol. Like I was already deep deep in the rabbit hole haha Anyways, after like a month I started diving into kpop and I really liked many songs bc everything was so new I saw A LOT of content and started considering myself a fan of many groups and solos but then through the years exactly the same thing that Boracity Magazine talked about happened to me... I lost interested in so many of them and i got bored. That's when I realized "ok maybe I was never a fan of them and and just like some songs". By the pass of the time I noticed even more how it seems like in kpop everyone treats everything like a group project when it's shouldn't when the artists are supposed to be different.. right? I always found BTS really special and unique and through the years I just noticed this pattern in kpop were MANY groups releases the same concepts, similar songs and stuff.. Like 98% of the times it's about what is trending or f a song does well you will find in the next couple of months hundreds of similar songs from others lol and even if now I see some changes in the artistic freedom that companies now are giving to their idols, I still feel the same thing right now. I always felt that even if some songs were not bad it all, it lacked something... many barely have a strong artistic identity or at least that's what I feel and the lyrics many times are really generic. (That's why when NewJeans debuted many found them refreshing since all the songs sounded like noises at that time.. I remember very well and i'm noticing that now many songs are trying to imitate New jeans style lmao. Like see? it's happening again lol). And hey I'm that kind of person that still enjoys some songs bc of the beat even if the lyrics sucks but ngl, after becoming an army the lyrics now are so important to me since BTS literally saved my life and has helped and inspired millions of people with their messages and more. I guess all the things that I've experience are common in armys.. no wonder why there's many only armys as well. That's what happens when you became a fan and respect an artist like BTS that give that much importance to the creation of their own craft and the fact they are so passionate for music and spreading their own messages to the world. They are really so talented, humble and always give us incredible high quality performances and songs.. and the most important things, They are BTS. There's just something abut them that hits different. Like come on! how can your standards not rise higher?? It's funny bc I've seen so many people saying things like "BTS ruined my concerts experience" bc after that they say that even if they go to other good concerts they can't help thinking that it's not like theirs. BTS is truly the best. 💜 Sorry for the long as5 cmment but I just wanted to share my story and why I agree so much with that video

Yes, same experience. Sometimes it pisses me off when people think you like BTS cause they're generic pop band that's why they're popular. Or like assuming you only like BTS, cause they're the only kpop group you've listened to, when can they understand you only liking BTS doesn't mean you haven't listened to other groups 🙄🤦

I feel the same, i tried to listen to other kpop groups but they all sounded the same to me (like BTS do different genres, don't stay inside the gender box) and their music is not meaningful like BTS music. So it was hard to get into them. So basically I end up like solo artist like Jessi and of couse bts members themselves because their solo projects are not the same has the BTS stuff.

I think what sets BTS apart from others is that they allow us to connect to them on personal level. they've been very transparent and vulnerable all the time that the audiences can't help but feel related & connected to, that's where the bond forms. it has become more than just music taste anymore, it has entered lives of many people in some levels.

I saw someone react to a compilation video of all the #1 song on billboard 100 from 1958 till present (a very very long video btw). He rated low for most of modern songs but when it comes to BTS, he makes a very annoying face and saying that whether BTS still have dignity (i think for reaching to the west and succeeded). He repeated that 8 times since BTS have 8 #1 songs on that chart. At first i thought because of the english songs but life goes on was there too.😏 It makes me think, does BTS should only contain their music to only korean or asian?. Does this person also think that there should be an american or european band to be at the top like the guy from forever in your mind said?. Is this why westerners refuse to give BTS a chance?. I don't know. Although i don't blame him for having his own music preference but being #1 on that chart is what majority people choose, the fans, the army. He and other people like him should understand and respect that. The same way we respect other people's choice. Btw, i do think BTS the best 😅😂. Hey! it's my personal opinion. I don't need reason to justify that😂. I like what i hear and that is a solid reason 😁.

I don't know... you guys know I love BTS, I comment on almost all of your BTS vids here and on Patreon, but I actually completely disagree with this video (boracity's video, not your reaction). It's so smug, it reminds me of that South Park episode where everyone is obsessed with the smell of their own farts, lol The thing is, bts ISN'T always "the best" (whatever that even means... like, can't we agree that music is subjective?). But that's EXACTLY why I love them so much. Back when the group was being formed, the "big three" kpop companies (SM, YG, and JYP) held all the power and influence in the industry. Those companies were able to pick and choose their trainees from the absolute cream of the crop of applicants... we're talking singers who'd been taking vocal lessons since childhood, art school kids, etc. SM in particular was famous in the kpop industry for turning out the most technically excellent, well-trained singers. BTS is different. They were formed from a totally ragtag group of misfits. RM and Suga were underground rappers, but were unsuited to be idols. They hated the idea at first, and RM almost quit because of the dancing. Suga wasn't even the first-place winner at the rap battle that was his audition. Jin was some handsome college student they grabbed off the street, with no music background. V had no real formal training in singing or dancing, either.. he was just a farm kid who played sax. Jungkook was a shy middle-schooler who failed his audition for a talent show. Jhope and Jimin were dancers with no vocal training. Jimin wasn't even the right kind of dancer... he was nearly kicked out early on because his style was a mismatch. What BTS did have was irresistible chemistry, sheer determination... and some sort of undefinable "it" factor. They had authenticity and made genuine connections with their fans. They actually wrote their own music about things that mattered to them. They rehearsed and practiced insanely hard to perfect the hell out of everything they did. They poured their whole souls into it. Yeah, Jhope and Jimin are considered to be two of the best dancers in kpop, so there's that. And BTS' rapline is legit because they are real rappers, not singers forced to fill the rap role, and they write their own lines, which is pretty rare in the idol world. Real talk though? Even though I adore BTS and they are my favorite kpop group by a mile, anyone with ears can tell their vocal line aren't quite on the same technical level as some of those SM vocalists. JK is the only one with the chops to even get close. The rest of the vocal line certainly have unique-sounding, pretty voices, and amazing stage presence. But to try to claim they are objectively "the best?" For real? Girl needs to leave her echo chamber. It doesn't matter though, I don't need BTS to be "the best" at anything. They are still my favorite, and their flaws make them unique and interesting. I just want them to keep doing what they do. Meanwhile, videos like this are the sort of things that fuel pointless fanwars and make ARMY look like jerks. 🙄

i don't think that you got the concept of "the best" that shes trying to explain. i understood it as they are the best at being the best (in fact, they are not the best at rapping, singing, composing, dancing or performing in the entire world!). this refers as the capacity someones has to fulfill such rol and constantly remind you why artists are artists indeed. the kind of confidence that shows everybody that they are the best as simply as that. just like you can feel the "superstar" vibe, the exact way you can sense the authenticity of that statement when bts is doing something. i get your point (since i was a kpop fan before being an army), but when i trying to think someone else in the same spot of bts right now, doing the same things, the same way and also getting the same response, i can only and just only see bts in that place. (btw that doesn't mean that other idols can't, it's just that the way bts did it was so powerful that even imagine other people is very difficult) so that concludes on bts being the best at their level, and that's why phrases like "the grow of bts...the work of bts...is such a bts move! ... exactly what i was expecting but better" is a thing, since they are the best at being bts, the results are like that. no other idol can't be bts (and thats obviously something great, they have to be themselves and made it worth it by their own name) and bts can't be like other idols either (since they are already thee bts) (and that "THEE" is what you can called "best") (yes, it is a feeling, but that actually affects a lot in the way you perceived someone!) (fun fact, was because of this psychological way of confidence that bts could get more famous, it was explained in the documentary)

@@naelovesbangtan0405Well, you made me question whether I had misunderstood the video, so I went back and listened again. 😝 And... no... I don't think I was wrong about her intentions. What you are saying is also true. She DID wrap around to those points: that BTS' success cannot be duplicated, that they dominate the industry, and they carved out their place at the top through sheer will. All true! Nobody is doing it like them, and unless kpop somehow breaks out of its niche and becomes fully mainstream (which we know is never gonna happen), no other group will likely ever surpass their overall impact on the industry. They are lightning in a bottle. ...but she ALSO said that *she* thinks BTS has "the best stage presence. The best composers. The best rapline. The best vocal line. The best dancers. The best music." ...and so on. How am I supposed to take her objectivity seriously after that? That's something only an obsessed fan would say about their favs, because no one group can possibly corner the market on EVERY talent like that. She also claimed several times that kpop is an industry where almost every group has a similar concept, but that "BTS is the most unique among them." Which again, tells me she hasn't seen as much of the genre as she says she has, because there are plenty of groups with crazy concepts, whereas BTS, while they are undeniably special, is not really structured any differently than dozens of boy groups that came before them. Nor were they the only group to struggle under a small label and eventually find success, like she implies when she later claims that "BTS worked harder and more creatively than other groups." Did they? Maybe. But how the heck would she know? It's weird to me that she took the time to make the point how "favorite" doesn't usually mean "best" ...unless you're dealing with kpop fans, who tend to blur the lines (i.e. get super parasocial). But then she turns around and... does just that. Makes a whoooole video to argue that her favs ARE in fact the most talented. Okay. Again, is a video like that really necessary? 🤷🏼♀️
