If you overpay him you won’t have enough cap left to pay other key players! Team quality will go down and so will his performance. A reasonable contract will serve Jordan Love better in the long run.

Why should a one-year starter at the quarterback position get paid as one of the top five quarterbacks in the NFL? Jordan Love did nothing until Aaron Jones got healthy and started playing as an RB1 like he was paid to do. Jordon Love deserves maybe a 50% raise to $26m per for five years with escalators on performance up to $38m.

Trevor Lawrence did not deserve that contract. He had one fluke playoff win where he threw 4 int in the first half and then came back from one of the worst playoff choke jobs I’ve ever seen from the chargers.
