about 16 years ago my brother and I messed around with these YSR50s. We swapped a 150cc single into one that performed really well. Old youtube vid. search ysr50 with lifan 150 or something like that. Filmed with potato camera from that era. These YSR and NSR bikes are really cool. We did a lot back in the mid 2000s pitbike / minibike craze.

The best swap for those bikes is the AM6 engine or Derbi Euro 2-3

such cool little machines, i see the comments trying to bully you into getting an aprilia, gotta say they're onto something, but try get an rs, they are truly amazing bikes that are sensational to ride,the 50s quick the 125s fast and the 250 is just mad, dunno if it'd even be possible to find one state side

It is totally possible, they certainly aren’t common but you can find them. I believe they are a bit more common on the west coast too so he would have a better chance finding one then I would here in the north east and I’ve seen quite a few in the last 5 or so years go for sale on fb marketplace

It’s a 30 yr old engine. Safe yourself the time and headache, replace all the seals and slap a new piston in it. 24mm carb, pipe, A little porting, and different sprocket, will be hitting 55 mph give or take.

You have to scream those to reach 55. Plus, they vibrate so bad that your feet will go numb in 2 minites of riding it. We had a built one that made 12.5 horsepower. It was a better bet to swap a 150cc 4 stroker in it for street driving.

It’s also super common for the carb to warp and not mount to manifold correctly with these but I think you spat a crank seal out. If it had gearbox oil it would have smoked it guts out

The engines in these are same crankcase as mx gt ty yz 50s and 80s they same from the early 70s up to mid 80s so don’t over pay for things like kick start shafts etc they are readily available and cheap. Also tip for these crankcases when changing crank seal use glue to hold the wet side seal in as there is no retainer

It’s sucking air in through the inlet hole where the 2stoke oil pipe (would be) attached to the carb. Since you don’t have the oil pump fitted.

Trevor! You need to pressure check the whole motor from intake to the stinger on the expansion pipe. Don't just pressure check from intake to exhaust flange. Pipes can cause this too.

Most definitely air leak, slide is slapping in the carb so most definitely air leak from crank seals or intake boot for sure
