I'm no expert, but wouldn't it be safer to go downhill in first gear with no brakes, instead of locking the rear and having it sliding around?

You not supposed to do that because you would be forcing the motor to rev without gas. No gas means no oil getting to the motor.

YFN_ MARI I was wondering that also.There not shiften so I think there in 2nd .I would start in 2nd n halfway up shift to 3.So I'm definitely think there in 2nd cause those bitches are screaming with high rpm .It wouldn't be that high of a rpm in 3rd gear n if they were in 3rd gear they would of mafe it to the top a lot faster than that

Probably used to be. There's a riding park in my area that used to be an old coal mine. Its got a few steep hills too, nothing like this but some that are pretty tough.
