I come back a year later to this video to remember the Collaroy. Retired September 27, 2023, and to recognise the return of the Queenscliff exactly 2 months later on November 27. Rest In Peace Collaroy, hopefully one day you won't be resting.

Nice video Phil. I'd get out while it is still out on the current timetable if I were you. It has no steering issues and the problem is simply the survey. Once it goes out of survey it can't run.

Thanks mate! Also thank you for the info, i was just going off a Sydney Morning Herald post. That’s sad! I wonder if Queenscliff will come back

@@AbandonedOZ All good. It is really a wonder because all 3 gen 2s are out of service and by law can't run because of safety issues, therefore Collaroy & Freshwater are running with Catherine Hamlin running every half-hour. I have heard word they want to keep Collaroy and bring back Queenscliff for summer in fears of breakdowns or just fear of only having 3 vessels on that route when 4 are needed. If Narrabeen's work can be done, it would be great. Just enjoy what you've got of the Collaroy now, especially with the election. If Labor gets it, it's fine, all 4 stay. Liberals on the other hand, I'd rather not. It really won't surprise me if the Lady Northcott is hired just to fill in while nothing else can.

Where are the decommissioned ferries such as the Queenscliff kept and are there many others in the event of similar incidents?

@@AbandonedOZ Thanks. I was more asking if you knew, are there other decommed ferries that are kept on hand to go into temp/permanent service should an incident occur in future.

How responsible is the NSW Government in allowing a steering issue to remain for years and not fix it. Seems ferry safety isn't important along with the Dset safety issues.

Collaroy steers just fine. They’re coming up with excuses to retire her
@aussiejohn58352 жыл бұрын
@@coolsoap8 I do think that you are correct otherwise there would have been many more incidents and the union would have refused to operate her until repairs were made.
@coolsoap82 жыл бұрын
@@aussiejohn5835 Collaroy does steer slightly different, due to a differently designed rudder, don't ask me what it is called. But basically there is an extra flap on the end of the rudder to increase maneuverability, so sometimes she zigzags and then you have to change the rudder position.

It is fine, it is just because the vessel is coming up for resurvey soon. I don't know when but I think it's December.

The real reason the vessel is being retired is surveying. It's coming up soon.

I pay you, $100K, to put the NSW flag on that bridge.

The NSW flag should never have been removed. The Indigenous flag should fly between the State and Country flags but not at the cost of 25 million dollars.
