You should get into books, you'll become intellectual and feel way more empowered by being smarter than most. Why stay in the same rut/cycle of basic shit? It sucks you seem passionate about firearms, you won't become successful like that. Probably should get off KZbin it's cancer.

The tip to get off the trigger during dry fire revealed that I disturb my sights after the shot breaks and I get off the trigger, which is probably why my accuracy suffers on follow up shots. I have 2 mags set up specifically for dry fire, one has the follower and spring removed and pennies glued inside to simulate the weight of a loaded mag and the other has the follower blocked so it can only fit a single snap cap. I also painted the base plates neon yellow for easy identification. Just helps me with peace of mind that I'm not going to squeeze a 9mm round into my neighbor's living room.

From what I have seen, Mr. Botkin has basically created a martial art for firearms. I've been teaching traditional Okinawan Karate for over thirty years and can see the same level of mastery and precession consistently executed in his technique that I have witnessed performed by masters in the martial arts world. It is truly rare to see such skill, innovation and insight in one so young, it will be interesting to see his form and technique evolve as he gets older and gains more experience with his discipline.

@@Sandman-ge8jz Ya - recoil management is something you can only do in live fire - that’s taken care of with the solid grip that you can train in dry fire I throttle down on my pistol in dry fire as hard as I would live I don’t like the phrase “recoil control” either - you can’t control recoil - you just have to reduce it and learn how to time your trigger press to coincide with your sights as they drop back into target alignment Mimicking recoil by moving your firearm in dry fire sounds like training to flinch

I'm 46 and 7 weeks into the hobby. I just have a Umarex 19x BB gun at the moment, but it's my fidget toy, and it goes with me everywhere (except the restroom). I don't even fire it using Co2, but just the constant racking and magazine changes have made a huge difference. I learned that picking up firearms is like learning how to play a guitar. It breaks you in, not the other way around. My hands and forearms are still jacked up, but I love it, and am disappointed I've waited this long and believed in the stigmas associated with guns in general. Your channel fits nicely between extremes of many southern accent channels, and hipster ones like Pew Pew. Keep up the great work.

Very true, but the timer is only as good as your Mic, which for the most part isn't precise enough on phones and headsets. For dryfire, absolutely no difference. But live fire, the times are different from app to app, and you can even change your times by whole tenths of a second just by changing settings in the app. Shot timers are always worth it 🤙

If you don't want to reload a snap cap every time for your reload drills remove the follower from your mag.
@anonypersona3189
@anonypersona3189 4 жыл бұрын
I used to do that, but without the follower or bullets your practice reloads will feel very different from the real thing. Get dummy rounds and fill out the mag and you can feel the difference. A full 15 rd mag is what you'll most likely be reloading with anyways (certainly much more realistic than reloading an empty mag without a follower). You'll quickly realize you need much more force to reliably seat the mag into the gun so that the mag catch works on a full magazine. Don't short change your training.

Wow, GREAT video! It's 2022 and, while ammo is coming back, it's not very cheap. With primers still very hard ($2000 for 5000 small pistol primers when available) to come by, reloading is out for now. I'm 67, retired and was wondering how I can keep my skills up then this video came up on my feed. Excellent suggestions and I have been putting targets on the back of my garage door, closing the door and practicing these drills most days. I have an adequate amount of ammo for now, but why waste it when I can advance my skills using the techniques Lucas has shown in this video. When I have gone to the range, I've noticed the advancement in my skills from my practice at home. Thank you for this video as I am more confident in protecting my family, home and preparing for the many threats that can come my way! 👍🏻

At 21:59 the one handed reload (while covering a chest wound) is impressive. That RDO must be incredibly robust that it doesn't get damaged or out of alignment with the way you're always using it has a handle/lever during your drills.

Update. I am back at this video again for review. Ended up getting a Taurus G3 because it was basically a Glock 19 with a discrete physical safety (don't care about using it, but its just nice to have), a trigger that I like more, and ergonomics that fit my hands better. Did I mention it was like half the price of the Glock? So yea now I am dry fire practicing with this instead between range days each week.

Awesome tips, I’m 72 and still proficient, but I can improve with these drills. I have a laser target system I’ve used before that shows on the target where the laser strikes the target. I have a G19X and a Taurus PT111 that has double strike capability. The benefit with the Taurus is I can place multiple shots on target and then run the reload drill. BTW I do carry a pistol every waking hour, 24/7/365 except for leap years!!!!

Some people are just more talented and develop a skill much quicker as well. It's just funny to me when people focus on shooting but are really out of shape and have no stamina to carry any gear/run or even hold their weapon. They think firing from a bench is practice

I just started shooting, and even though I did OK my first couple of times at the range, my groupings were kind of all over the place. With ammo being scarce, I decided to spend a little time each day dry-firing, just working on the only three things I knew about at the time: grip, sight picture, and trigger press. After a week, I went back to the range, and was amazed by how much I had improved.
@worstcasescenarioch

@@slipknnnot Wrong and uneducated c comment. It has nothing to do with "talent" and it has nothing to do with physical shape . You will get outskilled any day by fat and chubby dudes and / or lanky and out of shape dudes and women too. Shooting has EVERYTHING to do with training and purpose. If you're bad at shooting after 30K rounds it just mean you never really gave a shit, never did training and / or training course and you just threw lead for the sake of throwing lead.

A very detailed video with great explanations of the whys and wherefores of each of the many functions involved in presenting your firearm, finding the wall, and finally, braking the shot on target. With several hundred repeats of all the functions strung together, one will start to develop muscle memory to perform those functions without conscious thought. I will break the video down into a streamlined outline form as a ready reference for practice sessions. This video is a keeper to be reviewed often to validate my written outline and expand it. Thank You Lucas for this outstanding video........

Great video! He talks and moves very fast so it's easy to miss. Before 'playing' with your gun, make darn sure your mags are empty and there isn't a round in the chamber. You may notice he repeatedly is checking both throughout his drills. Check, double check and triple check. Keep ammo and full mags in a separate room until you're done. Don't want people getting shot by 'unloaded' guns.
