I don't know much about Trey Anastasio personally, I've never met him, but his presence seems to have such a sense of grace and generosity about it. I'm very grateful for what that brings to my life.

This was one of the most beautiful renditions of Divided Sky I have ever heard. The next day, I was driving up scenic 23A in the Catskills, with the fall foilage all aglow heading to meet some amazing Phish women to donan afternoon hike, giving the show a relisten. Divided sky came on at the moment I was about to hit the most beautiful part of my drive, and followed with Sigma Oasis when I arrived to my destination, singing "you're already there." I will always cherish the moment of that DS replaying just before I met up with Phamily I haven't seen in over a year and one phamily member who I finally met in person. The hardest part was not all being able to hug each other. But we held tight fist bumps!

That's awesome, I always thought going back to 92 when I started getting in to Phish,that the reason for the pause was to get the crowd to complete silence. It never seemed to work out

A guy in my buddies band went to UVM with the boys. Apparently Trey's roomie for a bit in the same music program. He's got one of the earliest Languedoc's outside the band. Been able to see him play that up very close a bunch. I also saw some tiny early bar gigs. So got to see Trey's 1st Languedoc fairly close a few times.

Nice that Trey gives back with this Divided Sky Fund. Im not surprised at his kindness. My first Phish show was mid 90's. I saw many. I also got addicted to opioid which im not proud of. Trey was a victim too and I will contribute to support this fund against this dreadful disease. My fav. tune

I heard Divided Sky for the first time when i was 13 yrs old. I was staying with my older brothers at their beach house for a week. Their “couch guy” roommate got me super stoned and played this song for me and it changed my life forever. I had just started playing guitar at the time and it completely shaped the direction of my playing style to this day. Later in life, i struggled with alcohol addiction but by with the help of my loving and compassionate friends, i was able to get thru it. The fact that Trey started a fund called The Divided Sky Fund for compassionate addiction assistance hits home to me on multiple levels.

Divided Sky is one of the very first Phish songs I was introduced to, many years ago, and it has always been a favorite. I especially enjoy the idiosyncratic, off-tempo passage, a couple of minutes in, as it reminds me of something Frank Zappa might have written. I could not have imagined this song being performed as a guitar-piano duet, and as such it does lack some of the big changes in dynamics that make the ensemble version so brilliant. But all in all, they pulled it off magnificently. Bravo, gentlemen! Thank you! P.S. I've not seen a more beautiful guitar in all my life, and Trey's playing certainly does it justice.

@KhalDrogo76 3 жыл бұрын
@@gmcsrbosavl6964 Dukes compositions were deftly complex while still swinging...he was able to bring sophisticated harmony into popular music for the time, Treys writing in the rock genre has these same complexities and sophistication IMO...others like Zappa and King Crimson have written in rock with these characteristics but for me Treys writing voice is unique and totally singular; and no matter how complex and angular his pieces can get they never lose that sense of melody.

I have been going to Phish shows since 1993... Love the various eras, but only one "modern" drawback for me is the overly delicate vibrato Trey now imposes on everything.. Wish he would just go back to singing with the abandon of all the years before. Nobody came to love Phish because of the beautiful voices, it was everything else!! :) Again, not hating, just expressing a wish as a long time fan..
