Trey Hensley - “If I Could Only Fly” (Blaze Foley cover)

Here’s one of my all-time favorite songs. It’s an old Blaze Foley tune that I learned from a Haggard album.
(Sorry for my out of tune guitar at the end…I bent the d string a little too hard and didn’t notice until I was finished. Oh well. Thanks for watching!)

I keep coming back to this version. Not only does that guitar sound amazing but the whole is perfect. Especially that slide down on the bass string to the D. My 3 year old loves this video. He always says "did he say FLY like a airplane??"

Oh man, great job singin. Awesome guitar work, too. My first cousin, also a super singer and a good friend, this was his favorite song. Played the song using a black Takemine that he loved. He passed a few years ago and bid this world goodbye. Flew too soon. Can’t wait to see him again. Thanks, Trey, for doing a fine job on this cover.
