i have a Trezor model T.. Trezor is DANGEROUS as instructions are incomplete and trezor suite is apt to loose tokens especially after firmware update. ZERO tech support isnt a plus either.. Ledger is much safer to not loose crypto. Any cold wallet should used with front end hot wallets like metamask to REDUCE risk.

It's actually fine and this is just user error... (Unless you have an actual, reproducible bug) If you have a typo in your seed or passphrase, you will have this same issue on a Ledger. (Though Ledger initial seed verification step is far more robust than what you find on a Trezor, especially given the 12 word seed on the Trezor T)

Firstly, chosing your own words is generally a bad idea as humans are terrible at randomness. Secondly, BIP39 recovery seeds like the Trezor uses both use words from a set list and have a checksum that dictates what the last word must be depending on the rest of the words. Trezor devices don't support generating the checksum word, so you can't easily pick the first 11 unless you are prepared to randomly pick the final word BIP39 words until you find one that is valid. (This will take 16 tries on average for an 12 word seed)

Yes it's a Bitcoin wallet. When you reset it, you can either generate a new seed (which will contain no funds) or restore a seed that you had previously used to store funds. The wallet is useful because it lets you securely generate, store and use private keys. (Represented as a seed phrase)

Hey man! Great video. I received my second Trezor Model T hard wallet for my NFT collection. When I plugged it in, it said "something seems off... please contact support." Although there were no signs of "tampering," I did and then proceeded to wipe the device as you showed above and then created a new wallet (since I hadn't connected to metamask yet.) Am I safe to connect to metamask now or should I just get a new Model T?

Firstly, you might want to check that it will be compatible before sending NFTs to a Trezor T, as I'm pretty sure the firmware doesn't yet support signing transactions sending them out... Secondly, are you saying that the device came pre-configured with a seed? Trezor Suite can be a bit fiddley at the moment in terms of the device being in the wrong state.

Yep, just restore the seed from your Trezor One on to your Trezor T and it will "just work". You can even have it on both at the same time.

Do you mean the recovery seed of that passphrase? Basically resetting it will give you new recovery seed or allow you to reinitialise it with your existing one. (If you forgot the PIN) Do you have existing funds in the wallet? If so, then these are associated with your current seed+passphrase and you will need to work out what the passphrase you used was.

There is no way to get the seed again and it's unsafe to run without a backup. The best course of action is to send all funds off the wallet, wipe it, then reinitialize with a new seed.

Hello sir. Found your yesterday watched video on seed recovery quite brilliant, so came for more today. But this one did not help me out of trouble. Thing is, recently my old PC crashed, with all the apps in it. Have had to reinstall crypto online wallets and Trezor Suite app as well. Well, I seem to have forgotten the "account name" (I had two on my Trezor T, with one seed phrase). The one that the Trezor shows me is "empty". That would have been a bad dream. I assume the priv keys are still "somewhere on the device". What do I do? I have the seed and passphrase right, but the Trezor is telling me it is empty. Thank you

If the seed is giving you different addresses then you likely have a typo in your seed. The only other thing to check first is Trezor Suite, as it will display some account types which won't be displayed correctly in other wallets. (Like Exodus, wallet.trezor.io etc)

If it isn't discovering the correct accounts then this is because of an issue with either your seed or passphrase. (Likely using the wrong one)

If you are getting the wrong address then it's going to be related to am issue in your seed or passphrase... Unless you have deliberately used a non-standard derivation path via something like Electrum.

Hi, I hope all is well. I recently purchased the Trezor Model T and I need to give it to some people that I was part of a mining pool with so they can transfer my crypto to it. My plan is to transfer the crypto once added to my Trezor to another wallet, and then do a factory reset on the device to ensure I only have access to the Trezor. One more question, I still have remaining to recover Bitcoin Cash, which didn’t immediately show up on this recovery. It showed up after the hard fork in 2017. How do I recover that? Thanks. If the first account is empty for BCH then Trezor Suite might not be automatically discovering it. Your best bet would be to just use the Trezor T with Electron-Cash and add the account with your hardware wallet that way. (Electron-Cash will work directly with your Trezor, so no seed entry required) You may need to use the derivation path m/44'/0'/1' for the second account on the Keepkey. (If you didn't split it) m/44'/145'/1' if you did split it...

Yea it may be that the update failed and wiped the device. You will basically just need to restore with your existing 12 word seed and all your funds will be there.

First thing to check is that the if you use Trezor suite, the funds are still mjssing. If you weren't using a passphrase before (hidden wallets) just leave the passphrase field blank when prompted. It's also possible that you have a typo in your 12 word seed, in which case you will need to use BTCRecover.

How can I recover accounts on my KeepKey using my KeepKey seed on my new Trezor Model T? The old KeepKey will not show my BTC legacy coins as it isn’t compatible with BIP44, so rather than use a software wallet like the Coinomi you gave a video on, I was told that somehow that could be done on my new Trezor that’s been setup, but has coins on it yet. What makes you think the Keepkey isn't compatible with legacy Bitcoin accounts and BIP44. (It certainly is) In terms of Trezor, you can just stick the seed from a Keepkey straight in to a Trezor T and it will "just work"

A Trezor T is unlikely to give any different result than a Keepkey when it comes to detecting Bitcoin legacy accounts. If you still find nothing, it's possible you have a typo in your seed. (As Keepkey doesn't verify this at all as part of the onboarding process) If so, BTCRecover can likely make short work of it.

You just restore the seed as normal and then when prompted in Trezor suite, you select "hidden wallet" and enter your passphrase. When you say "I can't connect" what does this mean? Does it load up a bunch of empty accounts or are you getting an error message of some kind?

You have a typo in your passphrase or your seed. I have recovered *many* wallets on Trezor devices, both with passphrase and without, never had a problem. Did you run the full recovery check to make sure your seed is correct?

If someone gains access to my seed phrase on model T, and recovers it on another device, they will get into a regular wallet, but not the passphrase protected one. At this point, can they do a factory reset and generate a new seed and my passphrase protected wallet is gone/at risk? Also, can they brute force the passphrase if they have the seed? Thanks

I don't understand your first question, someone restoring your seed and wiping doesn't impact your wallet at all. BTCRecover supports brute-force recovery of BIP 39 passphrase, so it's short (5-6) characters or a common word/phrase them it can be easily brute-forced.

Watch my video on cloning hardware wallets as there are some key concepts that you need up understand... Basically every hardware device is totally independent, even if running the same seed. Unless you destroy the physical backup, you can restore it on as many devices as you like, wipe them, etc, and while things like sending funds from any one device will be automatically reflected in all of them, stuff like wiping, destroying devices, etc, will not do anything to either your other backups or the seed backup itself.

If you are recovering and getting different addresses (So a bunch of accounts with no balance or transactions, check with Trezor suite) then you have a typo in your seed and will need to try BTCRecover.

That's what I'm trying to tell you... A different seed (or same seed with a typo) will generate different addresses, so if you are seeing a bunch of empty accounts then this can be why. Are you using a Trezor T or a Trezor One?

Just follow the process to do the reset and then it will start again like a new device.
