Hi I have a 08 MK5 with 104k currently and a couple weeks ago same thing happen to me. I believe you need a new T piece not the hose it's the plastic that connects all the hoses. Luckily a dealer close by had one left. It was under $20 and was quite easy to fix. Also I bought the coolant from the dealer for about $30 for the gallon. Been loving the videos keeep them coming. ✌

I would also buy a new coolant reservoir cap as the pressure check valve may be stuck closed which let too much pressure build up. Cheap insurance just in case. Still love my 2006 GTI, 113k miles in the US.

In my experience mate, once one of the hoses go, they are all ready to go... its just wear and tear, nothing last for ever... I would suggest you replace as many coolant hoses as possible with silicon replacements, silicon doesn't flex with heat and lasts a lot longer.. start with the hoses that are subject to most heat and important ones like radiator hoses... have fun :P

This happened to me about 10 minutes after buying my mk5 this week. Luckily it happened on my drive as I was inspecting the car, I only knocked it lightly. Also very lucky it wasn't too hot as it went in my eye and face, great start lol.

Make your next job to drop the sump and check the condition of the oil pump sprocket bolt. The bolt on my mates engine snapped and engine ate the swarth = £2400 rebuild. Would make a good vid too for others to check theirs

Pressure test the cooling system, could be a blocked radiator or matrix that’s caused that to pop, replace cooling cap they are pressurised caps set at a certain pressure if that caps failed then the cars coolant boiling point will be reduced as it won’t be under pressure

Mk5 GTI 2006-09 have camshaft problems, make sure have been replace before you need a new engine.
