Tri Five Cowl to Floor Brace Installation

This is a quick video of how I installed the passenger side brace from the Cowl to the Floor on my 55 Chevy 2 Door Sedan. It is the brace that goes around the body mount bolt head near the A Pillar. This is a very common part to rust out, so I hope this video is helpful for anyone looking to make the same repair.

Great video. I've watched several tri-five floor pan videos and you're the only one I've seen replace this bracket. I have them on my 55 Caddy and I'm having to make them. Thanks for showing them.

Nice job and only on 55 but 5-7 convertible too. I have a 55 wagon and I'm doing that next right after the front cowl boxes. The difference I'm making them all by hand.

like your channel. I'm doing a 55 210 as well. one suggestion cut way back on the hyper speed or fast forward. people can't see what you are doing.

I can film regular speed and convert to time lapse at a slower rate when editing, so I’ll give that a try. Thanks for the suggestion. Every day is a school day!

Well, I am putting new front floors in my 56 Chevy 2 dr, 210, and there are no pieces like what you are installing in my car. I have had this car for 53 years, and never cut any flooring out, so is that something only common to a 55?? FYI, took your advice and strung a 48" led light like you for interior lighting! Wow! Great idea!!

55-56 should be the same. Only difference between my 55 and 57 is the dimmer switch area, the rest of the toe board is the same. Good luck!

@@55TwoTen Did some research and found this comment - "This brace is used on all 55's, but only convertibles in 56 and 57. Tells you that it was not all that needed if GM discontinued it's use, on all models that were not convertible. " So, I guess that is why my 56 does not have them. ;)

Im not 100% sure but I think they did away with those braces in 1956 I think GM realized they are needed or just got cheap,LOL.I would like to do my 55 on the same side regardless. Would you know if they were omitted from the 2 door posts in 56??? Nice job any way!

I think they were the same 55-56. The parts were labeled as good for both years. The way the rocker/kick panels join the floor I think it would be a good idea to use them.

Floors are golden star. Patch panels are a mix of what I can find available. Wish I could be more specific.
