Noel is classic. Better do your homework to keep up with this pace. Had a teacher like this years ago. Just miles ahead, music pouring out, almost speaking a different language. This is challenging stuff. Thank you.

Been looking for good sounding creative ways to practice inversions, this is perfect. Along the same string sets is a great idea. Thanks!

Love how you took a piece of Bach and made it (somewhat) accessible... I still can't do this because I don't have mastery of traids hah. You're really amazing.

At first I thought it was another piece of nonsense. The most beautiful chord progression, yes yes ... But no, I was wrong. No nonsense, a really remarkable chord progression fished out. Fun, meditative, great. Thank you (As an aside: I suspect that Sting has also made use of such things) Greetings, and please keep up the good work

Hey... here's something that might help. I did a video with these shapes (and in the description are some free pdf's available of the major triad shapes) kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZrXXmlugNiAb9k

i didn't even know guitar could sound like that. It sounds like piano because of the voicings

I had a progression going... something like Cm7 Bb6 Db7 (and then DbM9/Eb Gm/Eb kind of quickly to get back to Cm7) ...and I thought it sounded alright, but no idea really why. Now I understand, the Db7 is a kind of Neapolitan. Thanks!

I'd like to see you do a video on Hungarian major (Lydian Dom #9) and it's evil sibling Romanian Major aka Lydian Dom b9, the Brazillian scale (jethe's mode 3?) They are nice alterations around melodic minor because one has melodic minor b5 and the other has melodic minor #5 and harmonic minor b5. Hungarian major 1 #2 3 #4 5 6 b7 2 alt bb6 bb7 3 harmonic minor b5 4 alt nat 6 5 melodic minor #5 6 Dorian b2 #4 7 lydian aug #3 Romanian major 1 b2 3 #4 5 6 b7 2 Lydian aug #2 #3 3 locrian nat 2 bb7 4 alt bb6 5 melodic minor b5 6 Dorian b2 b4 7 Lydian aug b3 (lyd dim aug?) Both parent scales are closely related to the octatonic diminished scale by ommiting one note.

Ooh! That sounds like a party 🎉 I love Hungarian Major! Joseph Schillinger also calls that scale the “Blue” scale. It’s really amazing. I do have a whole spiel ready to go on that one. There’s a Carnatic raga with the same intervals, too.

That’s a tele built by Chad Underwood and it has Lollar pickups (A Tele special and a mini humbucker)

Is this harmonic minor or something else?
@nohjoh089 ай бұрын
Everything fits A harmonic minor except the Neapolitan chord, but that one fits if you think of the 4m as the new key (D harmonic minor) for just a second. (The D minor acts as a pivot chord).

love your videos, but i swear you always are hugely lacking in volume and i have to turn you up tremendously, so when ads pop up on YT, it shatters me. I don't suppose you could normalize your mastered volumes in future vids? Also: isn't this progression in Classical Gas?
@nohjoh089 ай бұрын
Sorry about that! How’s my most recent video or two? Any better?
@thepagesaretorn9 ай бұрын
@nohjoh08 so when you give examples in the flippening part 2 video, it's definitely louder than this video, but it's still quite quiet compared to most videos out there. Definitely consider that when you master your next video, and I'll do my due diligence to see how it is and write back. I do want to say that, being extremely excited about all things music theory, the way you've presented your idea is so fresh and interesting that I get newfound giddiness for writing
