Mmm, those sweet Swedish vowels and rolling r's..... *melts*
@pennedarts3 жыл бұрын
Ok, but in reality Swedes do not have this accentuated R. She pronounces "dig" as written, that is the "old way" of pronouncing (deeg with G as in first G in gorge) - the modern "dig" is pronounced like English "day". Her way of speaking-singing is highly artistic. Beautiful and powerful. But not "normal" Swedish if you know what I am trying to say.. Otherwise, have a nice day. :-)

@Akillesursinne3 жыл бұрын
@@pennedarts Half truth. We have way more articulated "r" sounds than for example English does. Example: The word "riktigt". Rolling R. "Rulla" Rolling R. As for vowels, Sweden is famed for vowels and for the surviving two accents. And in any case, a sung language always differens to how it is spoken. That's just the nature of singing. So in reality, nah. Sweden does have rolling "r"s and is famous for being melodic and containing a lot of vowels. So in reality, yes to what the person said.

I had the good fortune of seeing Triakel in person many years ago when they appeared at the Cedar Culture Center in Minneapolis; if they had not come to town as part of a now-defunct annual Nordic fest, I would have never encountered their extraordinary music.

THE SPARROW'S VISA If you hear the little sparrow, you won't feel bad, when the winter is so severe and cold. Without much effort, you learn to feed, which is almost the least of all birds. Can you bird light, tell me very briefly, from the very first, the smallest to the largest. Say if you please, about the days of your life, from the beginning to the end of your life. Lust contented and happy, I my god and father, for the smallest grain of praise brings home. Sometimes my body shivers, and when my foot freezes, I hide it in my clothes. When it gets dark, I go to bed, in cold nights I lay my head down. Under the wing little one, sleeps sweetly and quietly, wakes up happy if morning leave home carries. When the day begins, God for food mourns, although I have no household. The year rich in crops, gives me enough to feed, the table is set by a gracious father. Steady in my demand, taken from a fist, clear drops of water without silver cups. Drink food and clothes, I get and me joy, because my god has all care for me.

Far from good translation (I'm not so good in english) but maybe you get the intention anyway... Tell me little sparrow, dont you suffer, as the winter is so hard and cold? Without a lot of work, you learn to to feed, as almost the smallest of all birds. Can you little bird, your short story tell, from the very first, smallest as the greatest. Tell me if you please, about the days of your life, from the beginning to your last days. Cheerful, pleased and happy, I my god and father, for the smallest grain, I thank. Sometimes body shakes, and if my foot is cold, I hide it in the cloth I wear. As the night falls, I go to bed, when the night is cold, my head I hide underneath my little wing, sleep sweet and still, wakes up in the morning and praising. As the day begins, god will give me food, even though I have no home. Year filled with grains, gives me to eat, my table is set by my merciful father. Full in my gizzard, regained by geranium, clear drips of water without silver cups. Drinks, food and clothes, I'm given, joyful, because my god all the care for me takes.

It's a story about a sparrow. In the first verse, the sparrow is asked to tell how it can manage its life when it is so small. This is actually an abbreviated version, the original folk song has 12 verses! Telling everything about the sparrow's life from the sparrow's perspective. A very simple translation of one of my favorite lines from the song: "When winter comes and I shudder, and my feet are freezing, I hide them in my clothes".
