Please watch this entire video. I say a lot of important vital stuff. People can lie. People will lie. If anyone thinks that false rape accusations aren't possible or don't happen, you're delusional. Anyone who ever make up false accusations about sexual abuse does harm to people who HAVE been sexually abuse. When accusations are made, its important to not commit the emotional bandwagon. Suspicion of a claim does not mean it didn't happen. I'm suspicious of everything, kinda have to been considering my religious background that I was raised.

***** Craig's case does have some inconsistencies, but often the rapist you know, continues the relationship as though it was not rape, so even the victim may not be sure. Rapists and victims don't always recognize themselves. It's hard to believe someone Craig's size could be a serial rapist of other men, but I can't imagine going back to watching him go to a concert or Disneyland, without thinking he might be a rapist. He may be innocent, but it ruins his reputation anyway. I'd like justice for rapists and healing for their victims, but these video accusations aren't doing either. It's like the witch trials and French Revolution, where the accusation was enough to condemn.

Very good points made, it is scary stuff. Fortunately no trial is needed because Craig admitted in his tumblr post to grooming a child, 15 year old Drew, & soliciting child pornography from him, which is illegal. jail-able & disgusting.
@Repzion10 жыл бұрын
Doug Armstrong Which is wrong of course, but just remember solication of photos vs rape are two different things by legal standings.By law though anyone under the age of 18 in the USA that would technically fall under child pornography if one gives a nude photo, not sure what it is for the UK.
@doug10 жыл бұрын
Agreed. In any case of how the laws are interpreted in the court on the day, a KZbinr asking a 15 year old to send them a naked picture should not be allowed anywhere near a community full of young, impressionable children. If he remains unpunished and in the public eye, said children may grow up thinking this kind of behaviour is okay.

Alexander Ulvnas No because I never mentioned anything except grooming for child pornography, that's what I'm saying he's guilty of as he confessed to it, hopefully you agree that is bad enough that he should remove himself from a community full of children? Or do you think grooming children is okay?

I'd like to point out something about the Tumblr post. On Craig's tumblr post about me, he used a photo from a party which wasn't the event in question to try and prove how he 'couldn't have' touched me. Secondly, after I'd proved multiple things wrong with his tumblr post he tried to change it to fit his story. For example he claimed to meet me in July 2013 and then decided to use a photo to prove nothing happened from June 1st 2013. Thirdly, I'd also like to point out Craig admitted to trying to obtain nude photos from me, but claims he thought I was 17 - However I, and all our mutual friends know he knew I was 15, as I was known as the 15 year old youtuber in our group. -Bare in mind asking a 17 year old for nude photos is still asking for child pornography- Finally I'd like to point out that it has gone to the police and it being dealt with.

As a survivor, I get absolutely disgusted when I hear about people making up rape accusations. It always has me questioning whether The experiences I went through were really that "bad". Taking advantage of the legal system in this way is disturbing to me, because it only makes it harder for actual rape survivors to bring their cases to the judicial system.

Reminds me of the time when Bryan Singer, X-Men: Days of Future Past director, was accused of raping a young man which many people immediately believed was true because it was known that he was gay. Thank you, I've been trying to say this for months but unable to phrase it. It's really scary how people tend to judge these things as if they were there and knew everything about it. I've decided not to act like a judge since I don't actually know what happened and since I'm not one. But sadly people on the internet think (from what I've seen anyway) that not judging the accused is the same as not supporting the victim and/or even worse victim blaming. It's two entirely different things and it's sad to see how eager society are to have a scapegoat regardless of them being guilty or not.

It's really hard to take a rape accusation seriously when no police were involved, yet the "victim" will loudly proclaim it everywhere else. It more sounds like character assassination. It also sounds like the accused would have a solid case for defamation of character. The first question i'd ask of the accuser is "Why didn't you call the police?". I'd bet in this case the accuser doesn't have a good answer for that.

I had an ex threaten to self harm because I wanted to end the relationship... call me heartless but I ended it. I and nobody else should have to be forced to stay in a relationship that they aren't happy in. The relationship was CLEARLY not going anywhere. If people threaten to self harm because you want to end it- end it anyway. That isn't your fault and it shouldn't be pinned on you if they self harm- that's on them for choosing to do so over such a stupid reason such as a relationship. Something every human being experiences and will eventually get over.

The thing about talking to someone who raped you, from experience, I ended up talking to the person for 2 more years flirty and loving because I believed it was my fault, and when I realized it wasn't, I was too scared of him to stop talking to him, because I was afraid he might hurt me or do it again if I lost contact with him. I was only 12, so I couldn't exactly move away (my family didn't believe it happened) or change my number (it was a home phone I talked to him on outside of school), so I'd see him every day and he'd talk to me and make these advances and I'd let him continually do it. I'm not saying Craig did or didn't do it, I just thought I'd share my input on that specific part :)

I agree with you Daniel. I care about people who self harm and I wouldn't disrespect them but if someone I was in a relationship with started doing that as a manipulative tactic to prevent a breakup of some kind that would only ensure that I broke up with them just for such a tactic. I don't care what they do to themselves, if they started threatening self harm, to damage my reputation or suicide, I would to one degree or another break all contact with them; almost certainly all contact of any kind. Don't take this the wrong way and it depends on the situation as how I responded but I most likely would not date someone who self harmed. I would not want to be in a relationship with someone who had those tendencies. It's doubtful that I would date someone who had a history of it. I do not judge and have compassion but I simply don't have the energy for such a relationship that would be a kind of long term task.

What you said in this video is very reasonable. People are guilty if evidence can show that they are. It's extremely sad to see people believe an assertion without any justification. If a woman accuses a man of rape, it's seem that people will eagerly believe the woman even if it isn't true and there have been cases like that.

The people who are making the accusations are the ones who should be receiving the flaming. You want to accuse someone of rape? File a lawsuit, don't take to the internets.
@CalumDarroch10 жыл бұрын
I just wanted to add a point I feel is valid. You mention that you don't know why someone would continue to talk to someone they claim has raped them. My own experience is very different to the people mentioned in this video. I was raped by my partner in my first relationship. There were elements of naivety, for sure, but I also had very strong feelings that remained at the time. Loving someone as much as you hate them is one of the most confusing feelings I have ever experienced. I went into therapy for a while after the event, but I stayed with him. Looking back, I regret this. I should have got out. I know many people will think I sound stupid for this, but unless you've experienced the situation itself, I don't know that you can understand. The situation of the 'victims' and the 'accused' you mention is clearly different to my own, in terms of circumstances and the relationships, but I just wanted to say that there are reasons why people would continue to talk to their rapist after the event. Primarily, denial, possibly naivety, and in some cases, to try and get answers to get closure. It isn't healthy, but it's an answer to your statement.

It's an unfortunate thing in today's society that any time the word rape is tossed about, the person accused is automatically sentenced by many to be a rapist. It's honestly disgusting to me. Yes, there are clear cut cases, but that doesn't mean every single person accused should be slandered. There are a lot of twisted individuals who would use such accusations, and the public's willingness to believe, to hurt someone they feel needs hurting. That just means we have to closely scrutinize these cases before so eagerly ruining someone's life over it.
@MusiCrazyEsperanza10 жыл бұрын
I mostly agree with your opinions in this video. We don't know what happens behind closed doors (or laptops in this case) and what is posted isn't always true. Having said that: Assumptions about a victim's behavior should be avoided because everyone acts differently in these types of situations. People that are repeatedly abused or raised to believe the abuse is normal will act as such and return to their abuser. Children that are molested by family members are prime examples. Typically it is children that lack some need which the molester will provide in exchange for innocence. Although a child won't want the molestation they may want the attention and care they receive from the molester. It's why grooming is an indicator of a molester. It's likely that a person which grows up after something like this happens will lack boundaries. Where a person with good boundaries, self-esteem, etc., etc., will avoid normal/flirty interaction with their abuser. Someone that has an unhealthy up bringing that normalizes boundary violation or such will act like nothing bad happened or continue to see their abuser. Some people are so entangled in bad situations that they don't know any different so they accept what is before them and continue with their life. It's unfortunate part of life but one that is inevitable. It's why I try to learn of different cultures and ways so that I may use what's available to improve my life and expose it to others around me. The people around me may believe I'm weird or crazy for trying them but just exposing them to something new let's them know there is not just one way or place.

I had the same thing happen to me on the basis of "trial by social media" on my previous and current channel. One certain user accused me of false-flagging Let's Players (like Chuggaaconroy or NintendoCapriSun) off of KZbin and I was this infamous "hacker" alias. Despite of the numerous videos debunking the malicious libel, people were believing it and getting extremely upset by it. Some of the evidence thrown at me were conspiracy theory-like and completely modified and manipulated. Evidence that would've been thrown out in a regular court case. Why was I put onto this "trial by social media" material? All because I had an opinion and said "a petition wasn't going to remove the DMCA claim" and accused the malicious user of trying to profit subscribers off of the horrible cause. Alongside, I gained a substantial amount of subscribers from giving correct information, not information that was manipulated and completely profiting by the other user. Since then, I had to back away from Let's Playing after five years, because of the heavily negative influence by that trial and even some of the flagged believed I was the person behind the flags. While the claim might be true or might be a huge "pants on fire" lie, it is best for both arguments to promote their case or just stay out of the matter in general. In a good majority of times, these cases are just hit pieces or character assassinations on the "suspect" (who is really innocent) and tries to reduce their fan base into nothing.

Holy snap, the whole situation is a mess. It's really sad because no matter if the allegations are true or false, there is/are victims.

Daniel, I agree with most everything you're saying in this video, and that it's good to be skeptical when there is little to no proof, but I'm kind of seeing a contradiction. In the video you made on Sam Pepper, you said the girl who came forward with her story was brave, and that her making the video was a good thing, but with these men coming forward, you're saying that putting the videos up is unnecessary. Maybe I'm missing a difference between the two, but so far, it seems like you're not being very consistent.

I was a peer counselor many years ago. A young man came in to report that he had been raped. We talked about his options. He left. A week later he was back. Reporting he was raped. By the same guy. Clearly this individual was disturbed. Since he had not been kidnapped by force, but WENT TO THE "RAPISTS" house. There are many people like this. Twisted, confused and mentally ill. Was he ever raped? Was this whole thing just a fantasy? Who knows? All I do know is that there are more people who cannot tell the difference between their delusions and the real world than we would like to admit.

I am extremely suspicious of rape accusations through social media. If the person was truly raped they wouldn't go to twitter to stir drama they would go to the police.
@Benimation10 жыл бұрын
Apparently, there has been a police case. He was found innocent.

What is wrong with this world ? False rape accusations are far more common then one might think, but I've never heard men accusing other men for raping them (besides jail ofc...). If they didn't go to the police and are now using social networks to basically destroy his career, there might be something really fishy about this story...

Being cornered by an angry mob even happened before the internet. Noting changed except for the pitchforks and torches. Unfortunately it's human nature.

0:33 Ignore it. Maybe this person should have gone to the authorities and reported it instead of vlog about it. When people do stuff like this i am automatically critical since it seems they simply want drama and 15 minutes of fame.

I'll have to quote Dr Phil on this: always trust the people saying they were raped first. Then investigate to disprove. No need to flame up everything of course, but always defend the alleged victims first.
@chickenman29710 жыл бұрын
Sorry, but Dr Phil is just wrong there. How about the accused is innocent first and the accuser needs to provide evidence for their guilt. That's the way the judicial system works, or at least should work. The accused should not have to disprove anything. If the accused is proven guilty, then we can protect the victim because we know there actually is a victim.
@vonigner10 жыл бұрын
Issue is that in the American system, the judicial worries about "convicting" and "finding proof of guilt". In theory it's nice, if the police does well their work + Defense lawyers can do a good counter investigation. I think someone who is willing to go through the horrors of saying they were raped/abused deserve to be believed upfront ; saying "okay we're going to find proof" is really victimizing. It's bad. And it protects abusers.. Then investigation should be towards "finding the truth", and not "finding proof of guilt". Thaty's how the judicial system of France works (in theory...). Accusers can't always provide "evidence", especially when it comes down to rape ; and I don't mean violent, stranger rape. Date rape was only accepted recently as an actual rape. "Then we can protect the victim", only after the guy was convicted, is a long way to go. It doesn't work.
@chickenman29710 жыл бұрын
vonigner _I think someone who is willing to go through the horrors of saying they were raped/abused deserve to be believed upfront_ And what about the rights of the accused? False allegations are more common than many would admit and they can and have ruined peoples lives. What about the horrors someone wrongfully accused of rape has to go through? They deserve to be believed innocent till they are proven guilty. _saying "okay we're going to find proof" is really victimizing._ Bullshit! If that's so, falsely accusing someone of rape is victimising of the accused. _And it protects abusers._ So they have no rights then? Sorry, I'm not buying this. Until there is a conviction, we have to assume innocence even if it means protecting an abuser because we can't be sure beyond any doubt that the accused is actually an abuser. _Then investigation should be towards "finding the truth", and not "finding proof of guilt"._ The burden of proof is on the accuser. They make the claim "so and so raped me" therefore it's up to them to provide evidence of the guilt of the accused. _Accusers can't always provide "evidence", especially when it comes down to rape ; and I don't mean violent, stranger rape. Date rape was only accepted recently as an actual rape._ Bullshit again. Especially with date rape. There usually is some corroborating evidence, be it residual DNA, residual drugs, witnesses etc. If they can't provide any, why should we believe them? _Then we can protect the victim", only after the guy was convicted, is a long way to go. It doesn't work._ Yes it does. The greatest step towards recovery from rape would be the conviction of the accused. Sorry, but your mentality with this is no different to witch hunts or drumhead trials. You would have people convicted without evidence based on someones word without any corroborating evidence. That does not sit well with me and it shouldn't sit well with you. You know Dr Phil is wrong about what he has said, you just won't admit it.

Daniel, but the thing is, to do what you saying, people have to sit back and "think" about the whole situation. These days that is the exact thing they don't want to do. They'd rather jump on the bandwagon and let someone else take care of them.

Rape is unlike any other crime. It's considered especially disgusting, and it's difficult to prove (actually impossible if a female raped a guy). Rape is disgusting, and I can't imagine it, but it's also incredibly easy to frame someone for. Most people aren't malicious enough to actually do this, but some are. Feminism tends to say "be safe and just assume the victim is telling the truth", why as everyone else says "Assume nothing until there is proof." I understand that there's very little way to prove rape, but there's also not much of a way to disprove it, making men vulnerable to false accusations. This leads to men feeling victimized (by a gender-specific problem), which causes them to hate feminists. Then feminists accuse them of "victim blaming", and the cycle continues.
@junelawson571910 жыл бұрын
Rape is a serious crime, so it's important to treat cases very seriously, both to punish people who commit rape and protect people who are falsely accused of rape. The two are different sides of the same coin, not conflicting issues.

Are the police investigating? I've heard of a few people come out against him and they are not the kind of people I think would lie about something like this. I know that is not evidence, I try to always remain sceptical, but in this case all we really have is there word and their integrity. I agree with you Daniel, trial by social media is irrational and we should rely on the courts to deal with this, but I will be supporting the victims (or supposed victims) on this one. Not that the courts are always right, as we have seen quite often in the UK recently with our sexual abuse and pedophilia trials/stories. I'm certainly suspicious though, I would never outright call him a rapist though as that had not yet been proven in court, but I don't like this one bit.

Why, you ask? Well, witch hunts are much more fun than going to a boring and, possibly, bored police officer to report an alleged rape. Also, it is much easier to start off something like that, the whole mob mentality of human nature and such, only nowadys it is only youtube spam on the alleged rapists channel instead of torches and pitchforks. Now, in case of a real rape, it would be much more prudent to report it to the police and to have a doctor make an examination on that as soon as possible, so that you have evidence to back up your claim and make life hell for the rapist.

Trial by social media is dumb, a lot of people judge without looking for evidence, it can ruin reputations, and even causes the person that's accused stress, If you are not working under law then don't get involved, people can lie for fame, even if you like someone do not take their side straight away.
@AlexThomson100010 жыл бұрын
Someone who was just raped cannot have the confidence to accuse their rapist on youtube but not to go to the police. If someone accuses someone of rape I immediately think they are just trying to drag the accused through the shit. If they went to the police they would be told to keep quiet about it until the investigation is complete.
