The Song is condescending to women, bashes a man, body shames a man, it's shallow, petty, and hypocritical. She's right, it is a feminist song.

***** You misunderstand the backlash to feminism. It has nothing to do with the definition you feminist keep pathetically trying to hide behind. It has everything to do with the disgusting hypocritically sexist *actions* of MODERN Feminism in the real world.

DiRProductions89 Same thing. These days, there are 3 kind of feminists: 1) Ignorant feminists. These are the ones who just say they are feminisits because they think it makes them look good. 2) Extremist feminists. The ones who want men to be sperm machines and nothing else. 3) Verbal feminists. These ones claim to be feminists, but all they do is make sure that sexist bigots fuck off. These are the least vocal.
@titusorelius945810 жыл бұрын
midlifecrisi hates Google + *CORRECTION:* 3) Verbal feminists. These ones claim to be feminists, but all they do is defend the *WORD* feminism but they never do anything about the "Extreme Feminists" within their own movement that are poisoning all gender relations.

It makes sense because Feminism itself uses women as a shield to push a sexist fear-mongering agenda meant to gain power and control.
@xxiaowenxx110 жыл бұрын
any mature feminism would know better and be in line with the sense of equality. I hope you don't push this incident to those feminism that do wish to speak out for inequalities (ie my platform: 1. oppression of women specifically targeting toward the idea that women are just not good enough; ie. guidance counselors saying no you can't go to that school based purely on gender. 2. male issues through not specifically towards males: single male fathers, domestic violence, etc. and 3. rape culture: victim-blaming, slut-shaming, victimizing the rapist, etc.)
@gabrielrangel95610 жыл бұрын
Xiaowen Xiao I'm an anti-feminist myself but as a gender-egalitarian I hope any inequalities to be solved. You may imagine I'm not in favour of the feminist rhetoric and the 'rape-culture' idea, victim blaming is bad though I rarely see it happening. Rape accusation are very serious accusations and should require compelling evidence. Etc, etc, etc...
@titusorelius945810 жыл бұрын
Xiaowen Xiao I notice your "Male Issues" issues list is pretty damn short and cut off with an "etc". But the women's issues went on and on. How very feminist of you. By The way. Feminism does not address men's issues, AT ALL. Just thought you should know. Prove me wrong.
@gabrielrangel95610 жыл бұрын
AnotherVolvoxFan Yes, you are hahaha. Same with feminism, I understand why someone might want to be a MRA, I just find it equally ludicrous. I'm saying rape culture as feminists posit does not exist, in the western world rape is pretty much seen as the worst crime possible (even worse than murder). I'm no way saying all rape accusations are fake but some and as any other legal issue accusations need evidence to back it up.

The whole thing about the scar above the man's eye, and how Abigail said that it made him look like he's on drugs, I can relate to that. I got burned when I was 2 years old, and now my left hand is very disfigured and slightly crippled. Three of my fingers are permanently bent and how the skin healed, I have holes in my hand. Sort of... but, when I was in public school (I'm home schooled now) quite a few of my classmates used to call my hand creepy and weird. It really hurt and damaged my self esteem. I accept how it looks now, but that still lives with me to this day. I just can't believe how cruel people are. I mean, you can't help that you get scars on your body, it's a part of life. I can't believe that people would say stuff like that, it makes me go "Wow... you really stooped that low?". Sorry, that statement that Abigail made just pissed me off...

Just watched the video. After 20 seconds I began contemplating methods of suicide which would be preferable to sitting through the rest of the video, but thankfully I didn't lose too much sanity by the end of it. It didn't really look empowering at all to be honest, it looked like she was butthurt about something, which was reinforced by whining about it. The only mildly entertaining bit of the video was what they did to the guy, but that's only funny because it's *really* dumb. Nothing "empowering" about it. Really, I've seen better stuff on amateur femdom videos, which I coincidentally find a lot easier to watch despite the occasional cringe worthy scene, and I'm not even into femdom!

Jazneo Gamming Making money doesn't make a career. No one would hire her for private gigs if everyone booed her off the stage, or didn't turn up for an event because she was part of it. Daniel even said she was an actor, and if everyone hates her enough no one would hire her if people would boycott/refuse to see the film because of her appearance. She is making money off of the video because everyone is viewing it, but KZbin also has a policy with Dislikes. I believe a certain ratio of dislikes to likes will result in them not including ads on the video, meaning no money. KZbin does this because no product owner wants their content associated with something a larger majority hate. Talking about her doesn't earn her anything. If talking about someone earned them money, no one would need a career/job, and we could all sit at home and get fat.

If someone writes a song bashing someone that broke up with them a year ago and there was no fight or altercation, then yeah, the song writer is obsessed with that person because instead of letting it go, the let it stew for over a year, then you are obsessed with them. If the song had come out shortly after the break up then I could see it as a vent piece, something to get her frustration out. But a year later and you're dedicating a song to some guy just to bash him? Obviously she's still obsessed with him.

I agreed with basically EVERYTHING you had said, aside from the mention of taylor swift. For whatever reason(possibly because she actually has quite a bit of love songs, some directed towards her exes or current lovers), the media makes it out as if she's had 5,000 boyfriends by now, when that's really quite far from the truth. Throughout her eight-year career so far, she has dated roughly about 6-9 people, the majority of those relationships quite short. I say 6-9, of course, because (like I earlier stated) the media warps it SO much that I can't really find a valid source at the current moment. Taylor herself has spoken on the issue that she "only writes songs about love/heartbreak", and admitted that she feels it's quite a sexist angle to take, as Ed Sheeran and Bruno Mars and the sorts are ALWAYS singing about their love life. This is also a reason why her new album has hardly any lovey songs on it, due to the way it comes across(aside from Blank Space, though that was supposed to be a big middle finger at the media, as it is portraying how the media makes her out to be). Though, I can see how else you could easily get the early-career Taylor vibe off of Abigail, at least. I get the feeling myself, just the whole way she portrays herself is not unlike how Swift came across when her career began. Anyway, good video, and I agree with all else!

Holy shit. As a feminist (or ally), this song is fucking terrible. She compares him to women as an insult - there's nothing feminist about that. Also, she's not critiquing him for how he treats her or treats women. She's insulting him for things he can't change - his voice, his scar, his looks. Either way it's a disgusting song and none of you should assume that this is what feminism is like.

I have only twice found a song that specifically spoke out agains women. The two rappers who had sung them were Tech N9NE and Hopsin. Tech N9NE made a song presumably about how his girlfriend had constantly looked for drama and asked him for expensive things. It's known as "Love 2 Dislike Me". The other one, Hopsin, didn't really make a song about women than one about the type of people he hates. He particularly spoke against lustful women who hope to find Romeo in clubs. He rapped about how hypocritical it is to react so strongly when they find out that that person is in fact not Romeo. That they were probably bad people who didn't deserve Romeo. This was prevalent in his song "The Ill Mind of Hopsin 5". Know that in this song he also raps about a druggy who has no skills at all, and a drug dealer who thinks he's a "real nigga". In the video, both are depicted as male. These are the only two songs that I've found against women. Note that these two rappers are dedicated to being original. In the mainstream that is pop music, I have only found people saying positive things about women.

Exactly. I don't think I've ever seen a movie starring her but I feel like this song is just the end of her career. She'll be down with the C-grade actors now.

The video has frozen too. Must be the internet laughing. Anyway, I'll watch the rest of the video now, YOU ABSOLUTE JOKER! Bahahahaha xD

Imagine if this was the reverse. Imagine if this was a guy singing about how much he hated his ex girlfriend with these images of him torturing what looks to be his ex. Can you really tell me that this would not be held up by feminists as some bullshit proof of a patriarchy? The fact that this video is acceptable is fucking disgusting and if any of you feminists have any dignity or actually believe in equality you'd denounce this video and this woman who made the video.

This to me seems like an outlet for a very young girl to express how she was feeling at a certain time in her life. It's a silly, stupid, overdramatic song yes, But I think your blowing this way out of proportion. I agree this is not in any way a song about empowering women. But do Taylor Swift songs really do that? No. Taylor is just older and smarter about her lyrics. If you really want to talk about a serious issue you should talk about the horrendous comments on Abigail Breslin's video from fan girls who would literally do anything for a "cute boy band member" I find fan girl mob mentality much more disturbing then a young girls silly song.

She's only 18? Then it's not that surprising, to be honest. There's not much difference of mental maturity between a 14 year old and an 18 year old girl, even though the rest grows considerably. Most women will only dismiss that "superficial persona" you talk of when their way into their 20's or 30's if they happen to be especially attractive, around the time they start having difficulties finding stupid young desperate puppy-guys that will put up with all their BS.
@memnarch12910 жыл бұрын
Ive meet plenty of 15-18 year olds who where more mature than some 20+ year olds I know. Problem is that the way society idolizes people now for doing nothing they never really grow up or act like adults.

To be fair ***** you did imply that you felt threatened by sex because some people were asexual, whether you meant to or not. And we were basically talking about relationships, that were almost certainly sexual so.... it isn't like he had to try hard to make it about sex

Can you explain something to me, Rep? It's serious, I'm not trying to be rude or insulting. I just want to know why people self harm. I had a good long two years of pretty heavy depression and never once did I want to hurt myself. I just don't quite get why someone would put themselves through pain. I understand suicide, but not self harm. Care to give me some insight here? You don't have to get too personal.

Yeah, i have the same question too. I know a specific person who has does it, but wont tell me why...
@renatonovis10 жыл бұрын
I never did it, but had some experience with people who did, my brother and an ex... like he said, it isn't like people would tell you they do it for attention, my ex would actually try to hide it from everyone, even me... with her, she had a lot of problems with her parents, she didn't had many friends and she sure didn't had any close friends, so she couldn't discuss it with anyone before we started dating, so I imagined it was a way to make this pain physical, exterior, like how some people would sing or dance when happy you know? I belive it's the kinda like the same thing... but as I said, I don't know it first hand, it's just my experience with people who had these issues...
@SaviourInDistress10 жыл бұрын
I think the chances of self harm is different with each person. Some people feel the need to self harm as physical pain is easier to cope with then the emotional pain. I myself whenever I get too stressed or feel depressed bite my thumb and it relieves some of the emotional pain in my head. I doubt this works with everyone though and doesn't even occur to others. Depression is a different journey for each individual with quite a lot of variance. It's a good thing you never got into self harm because I find it to be a very hard cycle to break out off.
@ryanavila247310 жыл бұрын
Now another question... How can you help out a person going through this? What if She/He doesn't want to open up to you... Thanks anyway btw guys/girls :)

FINALLY, an intellectual person made a video about this. Most people just focus on the fact that it's about Michael Clifford. Daniel, you pretty much expresed everything on my mind... P.S. I understand that most 14-year-olds act stupidly but frequently mentioning them as a sign of immaturity insults me since i'm 14 myself and i'd like to think i can use my brain effectively...

Ok, so I clicked the link in the description and watched the music video. And, although what Repzion said about the lyrics and the bad attitude is true, I believe that someone (not me 'cause I suck at singing) could make a really good song/parody with the background music.I'm just saying: I find the lyrics and the attitude to be terrible, but I do not mind the music on the bakground. (My opinion) Other than that: Congratulations, MrRepzion, I really enjoyed this video.
