I didn’t like the shipping containers that being said I understand budget issues and using resources you had at hand but saving a lil more for the movie to correct/ accurate landscapes would have increased the experience tenfold other than some of the landscapes I enjoyed it and the story and yea kit fisto vibes ....did a better job than I could have at all so yea just saying not hating lol just some advice I believe would boost overall quality and make it more enjoyable

Film Rating 7.6 This fan film is quite good. I like how you used many different places for filming. This film had a great story. But there is few things that you can make better. Really depends on the Jedi and their views. He could’ve felt he let his emotions dictate a fight, and get the better of him. Where he felt not replacing it to leave a reminder for him to not let emotions guide his path or his battles.

This is so cool! How did you get the lightsaber building animation like that? Also, my friends and I are doing a fan film, any suggestions?

Thank you Chandler! We just took a photo of the finished lightsaber and cropped it into a dozen small photos and individually animated each one. The crystal was also a photo of the same crystal Dai uses throughout the film. A 3D saber would have been ideal, but we didn’t have an advanced animator for the project. As for suggestions, I’d say do your best to find locations that are exotic or outlandish, places you rarely see. It’s a difficult task, but I think it’s one of the main complaints I see from SW fans. As for the dialogue, keep it short and sweet if you can, ours is even too long winded at times, we just had too much story to chew through. People love seeing action, so do your best to practice the choreography. And lastly, just have fun, remember, it’s your fan film, make it however you want!

I’m confused, the padawan was sent on a trial by his master to retrieve a Sith holocron and I thought he did, until he got back with his master and said that he was sorry he failed him. But then the master pulls out the fucking holocron?? Then I’m confused is the girl actually sith? Or is that a vision that the padawan had?? Please explain someone

Drew all good questions! The holocron was essentially destroyed/deactivated by Dai, so he felt like he failed his master. Master Atton tries to sense whatever is left of the holocron. Ora Sye acquires something from the dark entity, and perhaps it influences her dark side...

The scenes could have been a bit more streamlined and more fluid and the battle scenes would be a bit better if the choreography was smoother or to compensate repeat the scenes and cut a few more times for a feel of faster movement. With that said though I like the overall story. I especially like the ending. It’s pretty much how I would have made it. Well done over all.

My constructive criticisms. A) Dai was nowhere near ready for his trial. His master says this time he didn't let his emotions get in the way (more or less) I'm his trainer, I want his emotions in check EVERYTIME we go at it. That's the mark of a Jedi, self control in every circumstance. As a Master, my Padawan reflects directly on me, no way I'm letting him move forward with the emotional maturity of a teenager. B) Dai's infernal smiling in inappropriate moments. Jedi are focused. A Padawan going for the trials is going to be more focused, less whimsical. A Padawan going for the trials doesn't want to screw this up. I mean, on the other end of the trials is being named a Jedi Master and an eventual Padawan of their own. (I blame all of this on the director, not the actor). C) Lack of the Padawan rat's-tail braid. I suppose that since this is "Old Republic" one could argue the tradition hadn't been started yet... not buying it. Just some observations, hopefully writers and directors can put aside ego long enough to at least consider what I've said.

Michael, thank you for all the feedback, appreciate you taking the time to analyze our film! Just a few thoughts from me, you are correct, Dai was not ready for his trial, that was a bit of the point. His master was using him, he cared less about his readiness, and more about the opportunity to exploit him for his own personal gain. I’m not entirely sure why folks seem perturbed that a padawan would smile from time to time, as he a young individual who perhaps isn’t taking the training as seriously as he should. He was also training toward becoming a Jedi knight, not a master. Master Atton even notes this at the end of the film when he comments on Dai’s broken saber. As for the braid, this was something we considered, but as I discovered from a lot of reading that the braid was not necessarily required of all padawans, it was more traditional. We thought it was a fitting sign of a defiant padawan to not have the braid, or perhaps a similarly defiant master not to enforce it. Thanks again for all of your thoughts, if we make another one we will certainly have less smiling!

Ehh not bad. I can’t get past the fight choreography. Seen children sword fight with more conviction. Also you give the most iconic light saber to some girl that can’t follow rules nor is even a Jedi. Amethyst was extremely rare! Technically it wasn’t even invented until Sam Jackson asked Lucas for a purple saber. Also the voice change for the brother was just bad. Once you revealed him his voice should’ve changed to normal. I appreciate the effort so I liked the vid but I think you can do much better.

Thanks for the comments! The choreography is intentionally slower and more methodical. We were aiming for more than just flash. The amethyst lightsaber may be rare but it actually did exist in the Old Republic. A very famous Jedi named Revan actually wielded it. The purple is integral to her storyline because it is a color for users who border the closely to the dark side.

@@mac1701e yes good catch! The x-wing would not have existed in the Old Republic, but our VFX budget was tapped out at that point and I couldn’t find anyone to voluntarily create a 3D model for us. I would love to work on a part 2, I have a story outline I’m quite happy with!

Geez, this was really good. I know this is four years old (July 2024 now), but generally speaking, it seems like fan films across the board have passed a tipping point into high quality cinematography! Also, the duels are getting really good as well. This particular film was very enjoyable to watch and I appreciate being able to get lost in the story. Thank you!

You are correct! That is the Abram’s Bad Robot. We designed and built it entirely from scratch and then 3D printed the model. It was so large it took almost two weeks to print all of the pieces!

Sequel? I want to see what happens with Aurora(?) now that she is posessed(?) by the sith spirit of Dai's brother. Frankly, I want to see her go on a one-woman war with the Jedi and show what RotS did not. The fallen Jedi killing everyone in the temple. Maybe she could even seduce Dai to the dark side? Or better yet. They convince each other to abandon the extreme sides of the force and unite in the grey area.
