Trying out these Linian Fire Clips during a fire alarm and emergency lighting installation, how did I get on with them?
They are very easy to install, drill one hole and then after wrapping the clip around the cable, simply push in.
They stay in pretty well, due to the barbs on the fixing. Super quick to install and look good.
Comply with 18th Edition regulations with this new fire clip for round cables.

Being using these clips for years, brilliant and versatile. Dont go over 250mm between clips to avoid sagging

I’m not a sparkie but I do enjoy watching all tradesman videos, you’ve got a great channel mate. What I REALLY hate is seeing keyboard warriors writing very rude negative comments, if you’ve watched something u don’t agree with or u think u have a better way of doing things then constructive criticism is fine but there no need to be so rude . If u don’t like what you’ve seen don’t watch no more . Most people making utube vids are making no money from it , its actually costing them money to make them . If people keep leaving such rude negative comments the people will stop making vids. Rant over , keep up the good work bud 👍

You're right ppl are cruel by what you have to remember is the criticism is coming from professionals and although minor details may seem minor to casual viewers there's reason electricians must stick to the regs . Especially when doing alarms and essential services

That install is shocking! Also anything under 2m should be mechanically protected

Always keep your fire alarm cables separated from your mains 50mm minimum 👌

I'm shocked that this wasn't done. Thought the regs state circuits for safety services need to be segregated.

There was an episode on grand design years ago there was this special house being built by a guy for his wife who was deaf . In the house a system was fitted to help work with her hearing aids and boost her hearing in her home to give her near perfect hearing . The system didn't work nce the house was finished due to interference from all the mains supplies running through the house to the millions of downlights etc they had installed . It was a shame it didn't work due to interference

They look pretty bad , should have used T2 trunking and then used them inside the trunking to comply with the regs

@@artisanelectrics from what read how enforced is it? I wired a cable over front door but maybe as firm cable the electrician here not say it back, only plastic clips Also what read is for if cable fall in fire over an exit so can I go without along a wall? Looking to add a wire for 2kw heater and put wire so electrician can wire end into consumer unit (am tempted to do it and have them check it next time about)

Not seen them in use before. Look ok for use in hidden areas or out of reach. Would you say a p clip is a more secure fixing for say running cable into a call point unit.
@artisanelectrics
@artisanelectrics 5 жыл бұрын
Stephen Power P clips definitely hold the cable tighter if you get the right size. These things are quite solid though.

Thanks for your many videos of which i enjoy. Can we run fire alarm cables with lighting and socket cables all together in steel trunking? Or do the fire cable need to be separate?
@antonios4926
@antonios4926 4 жыл бұрын
Found out the answer. No, fire cables must be run separately from other 230v cables.
@tomdavis8827

How do u feel about wrapping some 1mm around the cables with screws and washer's?... something I've done a long time before these manufacturers started putting 18th complient on there wares....?

Then the issue arises with how to fix those screws into masonry. Using plastic plugs again? Small masonry anchors are too cumbersome, you are back to square one again.

Personally I think that looks bloody ugly all that cabling on show on the Ceiling , much prefer hidden in trunking
@mkinili2527

I personally think this was not a real installation more for demonstration since anything below 2m should be in a containment or trunking as well as you simply cannot mix ELV with LV . So they just demonstrating the lilian stuff. Arghh.. some people Thanks for the Demo!

I like you videos, but there’s nothing right about that fire alarm installation (apart from the fact you’ve used FP). I don’t believe you’ve wired this purely to demo the fire clips BTW, which means some poor bugger’s paying for it. 1. Looks dreadful 2. Should have mechanical protection (MT2 is good) 3. No separation of LV and ELV circuits.
