You guys are like the 12V Cummins,you just dont give up no matter how tough it gets. BTW I know it was down on power but your launches looked a heck of a lot better. So even through all the bad luck it looks like you're making progress and i see some nice passes in your future ;-)

Can i ask what she 60'd? As for the split block any ideas as to why it failed? Are those sleeves flexing causing the block to fatigue? What brand sleeves where they?I switched to Darton after a similar problem on a BIG HP VW 4 cylinder and we were able to squeeze another 280 from it.I dont know if it was the sleeves or going to a stepped deck that was the key.But we had much better luck on the stepped deck with a small protrusion of the sleeve to really crush the head gasket. This diesel stuff is new to me but does anyone run a stepped deck?I doubt its a problem on a billet block but its something to think about on cast OEM stuff.Anyway,just kind of thinking out loud here.I've got a big build coming up and I'm playing catch up these days.

Why not put straight cut gears in the timing cover and get rid of the helical gears?
@HunterRitchie4 жыл бұрын
I know this is a late reply, but straight cut gears "climb" out of the root a lot more than helical gears.

Always enjoy watching the videos and how much work and time you guys put into your truck. Thank you for sharing with us. On the drag strip it seems like the truck bounces and surges. Would it be a good idea to put a simple 800hp engine in the truck and line out the suspension so it hooks and books before adding more HP? I understand that might be very time consuming but it’s just a simple idea I had.

I guess thats why the old school sled pullers were deckplating 5.9 12v blocks to move the combustion event out of the block and to lessen the fatigue on the cast iron. I think deckplating a 5.9 typically makes it a 6.4 not completely sure tho.

Unreal. Can’t wait for part 2! You guys rock. I have a question on that split block. Can you provide rough boost/Power/rpm levels that made it give out? Not looking for any specifics but more what do you think is a safe max level for a stock block. I imagine at 1000cc of fuel you would be around 1300-1500 hp?

Thats what you call winning . Staying up all night to rebuild a engine. I dont have that in me any more . I would of said fuck it. Split blocks always reminds me of the 302s in mustang when I was in my 20s. . Love the grinder on the lathe . Thats one of the first tool I built with my cnc. Still have it. Looks like you need to design a billet cam gear now.

At least they had a good reason they were racing!
@brandonb85436 жыл бұрын
Same here. But who cares. I'm obviously buying through them for a reason. Them going out and doing this and putting "that much effort" make the parts better. It's a real world R&D. Every major performance parts manufacturer does this. The fact they admit it shows a lot for the character as a company. No doubt when they grow and can have ppl in place to manage that it won't be a problem. So please shut the hell up and stop being petty whining about your stupid order. And stop trying to lay guilt on a car guy for doing what he is passionate about. Fucking douchebag thing to say so congrats on coming off like that.
