I'm from Seville, a city of the Triana group. The singer was born in Calle Feria, in the Macarena neighborhood. He died in 1983 while going to a charity performance due to rains and floods in Bilbao (northern Spain). That solidarity musical performance ended, and on the way back in his car, at a crossroads, the accident happened. He didn't die instantly, no, he arrived at the hospital conscious but having left the musical keyboard in the back seat of his Citroen Bx, he hit the musical keyboard. The group no longer acted according to a secret pact between them. Then the musician who played the drums 20 years later wanted to recover the group that the former guitarist (the man in the orange shirt) never wanted, that the group return with the name Triana or its members because of that secret pact signed between them, but there are no documents of it. For me, a citizen of Seville, the city of the Triana group, it has been the greatest example of Andalusian rock. Today is the public holiday of the region of Andalusia (28 febrero)

I believe Triana was inspired by the Pink Floyd song "Set the controls for the heart of the sun". They must have thought: if these guys can make this fussion with arabic music, we can do it with flamenco. Actually, their first hit "Abre la Puerta" (from january 1975, some months before PF released "Wish you were here) has some reminiscence of that early Floyd music. They also have some King Crimson vibes, as well as from some other bands of the time.

Triana, a legendary band that does not stand still in time, new generations continue to enjoy their great creations. For me the two most progressive albums are: Hijos del Agobio and Sombra y Luz. El Patio It is undoubtedly a masterpiece that is difficult to label in a particular style, although with influences, it covers so much that one could speak of a new style.

It is a pleasure to learn about such an incredible band! They remind me of music my parents used to listened to when I was young like Blind Faith and Traffic and other band from that era! They were way ahead of their time in a lot of ways! I will be looking into and making more videos about this band for sure!

@@TheKillogicEffect Thank you very much for your reply. They listened to groups like Chicago, for example, and I think very possibly others like Black Sabath, integrating all of this into more traditional Spanish music. Those you cite must surely also have been a source of these great revolutionary American musicians. Thank you once again and I will be attentive to your reactions, you seem to me to be a person with a lot of "ear" (here we call him elf) and great musical ability and experience. A big hug 😇

BRUTAL! You're right when you say that they have certain influence from prog bands, but in an interview they said they were doing the music they really felt and they didn't have anything to do with anglo-saxon - American or British - styles, there's where you find this music familiar in a strange way. They were doing Sevillian Rock, far from other Spanish groups who were really influenced by foreign music and adapting their styles to the mainstream. Triana stayed away from those influences and dug into their own nature, let's say flamenco, but they're not flamenco either. They are Triana. Greetings! 🤘
@TheKillogicEffect9 ай бұрын
Greetings! Yeah I really dig their sound! I should have been more clear when I was talking about influence because I meant that bands in the states probably got influence from them. The only reason I put them in the Flamenco playlist is because of the Flamenco elements but you are correct that they are not an actual Flamenco style band. I am really looking forward to hearing more from the wealth of music they have left for us to enjoy and be inspired by!
@PolHesher9 ай бұрын
@@TheKillogicEffect Thanks for your reply. You're absolutely right including them into Flamenco! Triana never despised the genre, on the contrary, they settled the basis to a new sub-genre: Rock Andaluz. In fact they could fit in any list from the 60's-70's or 80's: prog, psychedelic, some pop, symphonic rock... Always learning from those who were first, but sieving the essence and composing new horizons for people who, unfortunately, had to live under a dictatorship - but that's another story-. Let me observe that you're in the right direction! Great this channel of yours, congrats.

Si.
