I KNEW i wasn't crazy when i remembered getting a food sanitizer in the early days. In fact, a lot of the cut content was cut after the games release.

They had a patch I think when Dead money came out, it took out a lot of NPCs and their behaviors, like at the strip or the No mans land between Nelson and Forlorn hope. And a few items and notes too. It was to free up memory on console for the DLCs and to make the game run smoother. There are mods to restore a lot of it on PC though.

A game breaking bug in the PS3 version was that if the more hours +saves you had a bigger chance of your data/saves corrupting. Many cuts and compromises were due to both of the consoles performance tanking or the game engine. Its like this for a lot of games unfortunatley, tons of games out there that scoped back detail or content in devopment for compatibility on console.

In the "Come Fly With Me" right before you launch the rockets, if you look to the right there's a computer panel. From that panel you can find out there was an error in the launch control and an option to fix it. If you fix it all three rockets take off without a hitch.

It's never specified because it's left ambiguous what they actually mean with the great beyond. There is a zone in the world of Fallout that's completely governed by ghouls and apparently "great beyond" is a nickname for it, which means that might actually be what they're aiming for.

All the cut stuff is nice, but I think Harland's extra dialogue and the prisoners would've made it worth doing especially. His cut dialogue delves more into the trope of Jason extorting others for the sake of his journey and would've been an interesting contrast between his prophecies and his actual manipulation

The space helmet combines well with the head revitalizer halo thingy from old world blues and the space suit is a lighter but just as effective (while having more durability and armor rating) rad suit. Also you can preemtively steal the parts from gibbson from the locked crate and the isotope from the T-Rex guy by lockpicking his storage door (it also has a little surprise inside, in case you haven't bought “it“ prior)

One of my favorite quests for the aspect of it, that said I always have to prepare myself for all the up and down and back and forth. Jason Bright is a fantastic character, and shows that not all glowing ones go feral, similar to those found in Vault 12 in Fallout 2. In summary, greatly themed quest, but not a well built quest. Awesome cut content here though. Nice setup for that ending!

Nowadays, I just run over to Gibson's, snag the modules ahead of time, run over to dinky and snag (5 or 6, exact amount to have zero left over in inventory when quest completes) model rockets, then make my way over to repconn to save myself the trouble of long distance fetching

While Testacles may be a reference to Planescape. I believe that the character in general is a reference to "Happy Noodle Boy" a side comic in Jhonen Vasquez's (of Invader Zim fame) comic book "Johnny The Homicidal Manic". While this is speculation, Planescape came out in 1999; JTHM ran from 1995 to 1997.

I remember how I once managed to glitch into the launch dome by jumping through mountains around Primm Pass. IIRC it has no collision and you can just walk inside and see the rockets

This quest always came across as a shining example of how unfinished New Vegas was, especially when taking the equally underwhelming karma system into account. You always expect to see different paths, dialogue options or karma changes that are frustratingly never available to you. These ghouls are clearly not feral, so why don't you get bad karma for slaughtering them just so you can get them out of the test site? There is no option to threaten them into leaving or convince them that they're about to do something incredibly dumb. You either massacre them, or waste a huge amount of time helping them do something that will likely just get them killed anyway. And when you take care of it, the only option you have is telling Manny that the ghouls are "gone". And he of course just takes your word for it. Doesn't aknowlegde the rockets that were launched from the site if you helped them or ask for details if you didn't. This might be why Jeannie May once gave you the quest as well. She offered the mercenary motivation for the quest while Manny wanted a more peaceful solution. But unfortunately, the development was too much of a mess for us to know how good it really could have been. If only Obsidian weren't stuck with that shit ass Bethesda engine.

I love this quest and I usually go straight to Novac to get Boone and complete it. It's a little rough around the edges, but it more than makes up for it with the awesome nightkin encounter, interesting plot, rocket launch set to Ride of the Valkyries, and (imo) forcing you to explore areas in and around Novac that can often be overlooked by people wanting to go straight to New Vegas. I think it's solid game design that perhaps could have been executed and polished a bit better, but still holds up well on its own. It's impressive to me that it was the first quest they made considering its scale in comparison to many other more minor quests that I would've guessed.

I’ve always had a fondness for this quest. Though I hate going through it since it’s a lot of back and forward it’s one of the most complete “how do you want to do this” style of quests. Every step has several paths that lead to the end, and though there are really only 3 endings (you help them, you sabotage, you just kill them) the quest has many different ways to get to those endings. With every step there’s usually 2 to 3 different ways you can get the end result. Like if you don’t want to pay for the part you can just kill the old woman, get her unique weapon (which is the only way to get it), and then unlock the box that holds the item. With all this praise I do want to add it’s very clearly not a well made quest. The amount of times these different ways to beat the mission collide causes a few problems. Want to get the ghoul out of the basement so that you can get the super mutants out well you better stealth your way out or else it’s practically worthless to actually find the dead girl since the mutants would become Hostile against you thus making the main one hostile if you defend yourself. In the end I just end up shooting the guy so I don’t have to deal with him.

It disappointed me in retrospect that there isn't a quest path to talk to Manny, get the "go take care of the ghouls" objective, show up and shoot Jason, and leave having "taken care" of the ghoul problem. That would've been a fun post game scenario to see Novac overrun by Nightkin that you hadn't bothered to handle at the time

My god. I have been seeing your videos on my homepage for months now and it is ALWAYS New Vegas cut content. I cannot believe there was so much stuff stripped out of this game. Clearly Obsidian were WAY ahead of their time in creating Fallout New Vegas. Yes, the obviously had to cut a lot out to make the game console compatible, but I also imagine that a lot of this stuff would also needed to be cut out to make it run on late 2000s PC hardware. Every time I see one of your videos I keep thinking of what this game might have been had Obsidian made it on newer hardware, with a larger budget and more time to create the game. I know the developers came out and said they weren't really constrained by time and they managed to gt everything they wanted into the game by launch day, but clearly there are so many wasted ideas that never came to fruition and it is a real shame we never got to see what this game might have been, which is truly amazing since it is already an amazing Fallout game as it is. This is why I am so excited about the Microsoft deal with ZeniMax. When Obsidian was bought by Xbox Game Studios in 2018, it was pretty much the final nail in the coffin for any hopes of another Fallout title from them since they would be relegated to making Xbox exclusives. However, it seems Microsoft knew what they were doing, because apparently they were in talks with Zenimax in 2018 as well. Clearly MS were hoping to buy up Obsidian and Zeni in one go, but the Zeni deal (obviously) took much longer to pan out. It seems to me that MS is aware of how much the fans want another Obsidian Fallout title and were trying to make it happen. I can only hope this theory is indeed what the plan is, because as your videos show, Obsidian NEED to make another Fallout title.

I remember one part also is after repconn, the nightkin were supposed to migrate out north to another location, I don't remember the name offhand but it was after the deathclaws and in the building surrounded by a couple bots before getting closer to mccarran. I don't think it'll happen until Microsoft sets up a board meeting with both companies and decide what is going to happen. I feel like they would trust Obsidian and their Outer Worlds engine. It runs so smooth atleast for me. Fallout 5 in California or somewhere new on the West Coast with a 2 maybe 3 1/2 year development would be great and less bugs. Who knows New Vegas 2 is a good possibility, but we won't know until they set it in motion. I have my fingers crossed, but I'm not holding my breath.

Did anyone else find that weird fence that goes to nowhere? If you scale the right side of the rocky cliff on the road to Repconn there's a path that leads to a fence in an alcove and there's nothing behind it. Is there any information on that?

Playing through this quest is one of my least favorite parts of each NV playthrough. Just going up and down through the building, in and out of the building, back and forth between the building and the parts, and at the end of it the Ghouls just leave. There's no payoff. I like the probably unintentional Halo references though. They always give me a little smirk. An almost religiously delusional group using advanced technology from a time before a planet destroying war set the known world back hundreds of years to enact their "Great Journey". Their mission being routinely interrupted by nearly unstoppable, superhuman, 7+ ft tall "Demons" that are exceptional stealth fighters. It's most likely not intentional, at least no more than having the names "Demons" and "Great Journey" be part of the same quest, but what's there makes for a pretty good little reference.

I’ll never forget the utter confusion this quest made me feel the first time. It was like a daydream, I remember walking outside the REPCONN facility after fighting the nightkin for an hour and the ghoul cult stuff, and I basically forgot how I even got there. The ending was heartwarming for me, though, I really chose to believe that they got to the moon and did something better for themselves. The intended ending makes more sense though. Now I just murder them all every time or avoid the base altogether.

ive done come fly with me so much that its just a quick side quest at this point, the rockets in the dino have the isotope and you can just straight up steal lady gibsons part if you dont feel like doing the work btw. Also just shoot Harland, way easier then wasting all your ammo on the nightkins

Idk if this is true but I’ve. Heard that the ghouls aren’t actually trying to end up in space, instead they’re trying to reach necropolis from og fallout where ghouls are more accepted

Bro I remember playing this mission in 5th grade which was 3 years ago for me when I was super sick with ibs-c I played it in my room on an old crt tv and because my stomach hurt so bad I maybe ate like a burger a week and my parents at first thought I was just trying to skip but then they realized that I was losing weight and stuff like that so they I got diagnosed

I find it funny how twice Obsidian have been given rushed deadlines and little help and have still managed to smash out, arguably, two of the best RPG's of all time. I'm referring to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 and Fallout: New Vegas. Half of both of those games got cut and they were still amazing examples of what Bethesda can't do; depth, player choice, tangible consequences and world reactivity.

I remember playing this quest in my first playthrough in the game... Playing at level 6-7 against invisible nightkins in the confusing repconn building is not a good experience lol and at that time I didn't know I can skip this quest so I think this is the one of main quests hahaha
