Seeing him jump like Mario reminded me of a thought I had: Giving the super spin dash to every character kinda devalued Sonic as a "super powered" character. If they'd thought a bit more they could have made Sonic 3 and onwards more like Mario 2 USA and given the characters different abilities. Make tails slower but able to fly and put powerups on high platforms only he can reach, maybe make him able to pick up and throw things like the obscure Game Gear games. Make Knuckles a little faster and able to glide, climb and also punch enemies while standing, but not able to spin dash. He could also punch walls Sonic can spin through.

This animation looks good, it's like it could be a real game! ...Aside from one thing: if this is supposed to be like a game, then the boss fight should be changed because it just adds a new mechanic that since player haven't seen or encountered before, he wouldn't know about it and wouldn't try to pickup bombs, assuming that you can't do that. Other than that, great animation!
