John Carreyrou is a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist for The Wall Street Journal and the author of Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup. He sits down with Megan Morrone on this week's Triangulation and talks about the rise and fall of Theranos and its founder Elizabeth Holmes. Holmes was the darling of the tech world, at 19 she dropped out of Stanford, founded Theranos, and wooed investors to the tune of $700 Million dollars with the promise of revolutionizing the blood testing industry. She persuaded high-level officials, like George Schultz and Henry Kissinger, to join her board of directors, as she and her team worked to create what she called the "iPod of health care". Carreyrou had his doubts about Holmes and the company and began investigating. The level of deception and fraud he ultimately uncovered was staggering.
