Really good tutorials, hope you will keep it up. Hard to find good layout stuff on KZbin. I see the Richard Budzik layout book, which is my main go to. Wish I would have had these when I was first learning triangulation and true length triangles. I will use some of these with my guys in the future.

@@sheetmetalwork I've been a Retro INSTALLER for 21 years and I never learned the proper way to layout fittings like you! I love how easy you make it seem.

So many steps. I went at it. Half way through it and my mind was worked lol.

Step by step is how it should be done at first until we get to know a few short cuts. Working the mind = Growth

On the throat calculation. 3.14 is 1/8 right. Or is it the 1/16 as mentioned
@sheetmetalwork Жыл бұрын
@@noahoyeah yes .14 is closer to 1/8. Sorry for my mistake 😮… please let me know when you notice another one, they are intentionally placed here and there. 🤪kidding

@@sheetmetalwork hey. I had to reference a decimal to fractions card I’m no genius let alone know much about fractions and decimals. I’m getting ready to begin learning. Sad I started taking all this serious at 41

@@noahoyeah I’ll put money down that you are going to be a great student, and I’m quite sure your have other skills that will help you along the way. As for the decimal, simply multiply the decimal portion x 16. Your answer will be to the nearest 16th.

Am I right in saying that the other cheek is simply the first one drawn? The one you took the element lines from?

Good question, Yes you’re right, because it is flat.

Hi Duane. So, 2 pieces to make the heal. How do you join them together at the crotch? Extend 1 heel piece by 1/2" and spot weld? Thanks.
@sheetmetalwork11 ай бұрын
That definitely works if a spot welder is available, if not one could use, something that looks like a standing seam, or even an S cleat on one half and a small flange on the other. I hope this helps :)
@bcornwall27853 жыл бұрын
Excellent tutorial but how do you form the male part of the lock form on the top of the y branch (where the 2 heels meet). I take it that it can’t be done in one pass through the flanging attachment on the lockformer?
@sheetmetalwork3 жыл бұрын
Great question! And you are right, you cannot turn 100% of the Cheek flange. You can only turn approximately 2/3 and then you must pull the cheek out from the flanger before getting caught in the Crotch. The flange will then be completed quickly using pliers or some sort of 3/16 jig. Again, great observation B, When I find time I will try to do a demo.

Why do you Multiply the throat length by 1.57?
@michaeljowers4641 Жыл бұрын
1.57 I mean?
@michaeljowers4641 Жыл бұрын
Is that account for Pittsburg seams?
@sheetmetalwork9 ай бұрын
I multiplied the throat Radius x 1.57
@michaeljowers46416 ай бұрын
But why 1.57 Specifically? I tried doing that and they came out short. Also I noticed that the finished Metal fitting at the beginning didn’t have any Transverse connections. I’m guess that would be for a Duct Mate application. But in and S and drive application where does the kink lines go? To the Point of the fitting or the end of the of your male 1/4” flange?
