I need to know how to modify return air at the furnace to accept an air filter so the vacuum created sucks the filter tight to the unit. Right now, the filter is in the channel in the unit which allows unfiltered air to bypass and circulate through the house. Not much clearance to replace the filter in the unit due to the unit being placed where the access is facing the so called chimney that vents the CO1. Seems as if no hvac installer wants to waste their time to help out and do some metal work. Not like I’m not willing to pay for the work performed, not like I’ve ever said that’s way too much money for such a small job, I’m a skilled tradesman and know costs, but after watching your video, I feel as though I could do it myself with the correct guidance. AWESOME WORK by the way.

Man I’ve been doing this for 25 years and that pocket break looks to be fantastic! Cant wait to get one! I was going to ask how the hell you handbrake that nice and straight where you want it but then saw you used a straight edge but only use the straight edge on a couple of the breaks. I know the cross breaks aren’t important to keep straight necessarily but the 90° fold for your dimension is.

Do you have a Hensley bender for demoing some sheet metal work? Foil tape can also be used on the supply side to seal a plenum. As far as the Return side, it doesn't matter. These can be constructed with typical construction materials like wood and sheet rock and don't need to be sealed, necessarily. Spent quite a bit of time building supply plenums in New Construction housing. Don't have to do that on the service (diagnostic side) that much at all. I don't like climbing into rafters and working in close-quarters. I have the brain for the service side, so I'm ultimately glad that I'm done with that 'new construction' part of my life.
@paulnagy81162 жыл бұрын
Now try that with 26ga lol. We usually use a Pittsburgh or bottomlock seam. If you have 3.5 tone blower and if it starts in hifire your plenum is going to look start like a football. Different standards

Exactly. No way this 30ga nonsense would fly with a metal worker who knew what he was doing.

The video is interesting, but in most cases that I have seen, if they explain step by step how the folds are made in the sheet, they do not talk much about the caliber of the sheet and they do not mention the type of insulation that the transition should have. takes it outside or if it should take it internally. Anyway, thanks for sharing the knowledge. I appreciate if you can comment on it. Greetings.
