There's a famous experiment where virtuoso Josh Bell, who was used to performing in sold out concert halls with expensive tickets, put on normal street clothes and played a $3.5 million Stradivarius violin on the subway with most people completely ignoring him.

Hey @TRYBALS, its great to see that the gentlemen enjoyed the video, I am happy to see that you listened to my comment in an earlier video. I hope to see many more of these great videos. May the people from all over the world become closer to each other and spread love and happines. Instead of war, hate, hunger, greed and poverty.

That flat instrument wasn't one... It is an old fashioned Washboard for washing clothes by hand. It became an instrument later.

Its part of the symbol of poverty; The poorest would turn household items into instruments that mimicked real instruments, which became parodied in cartoons, and they'd make bluegrass or country or soul music.

That board thing is called a washboard. Before clothes washing machines, people washed their clothes by putting some soapy water in a large wash bucket, sticking the washboard in, and scrubbing the clothes up and down against the washboard.

The wisdom of these gentlemen is so heartwarming to hear. They may not understand the English lyrics but they feel the music in their souls and what the song means on a much deeper level.

This is such a classic song, I'm not surprised people all over the world know it. I love the way all the different performers and locations were cut together so seamlessly. Playing for change has a double meaning. Playing to change the world is one. Buskers--street performers literally play for change--the coins in your pocket that aren't enough to buy anything. Your gentleman got the spirit of it right away. I'm with Muharam, I will always stop and listen.

I ove hearing the responses, reactions and wise conclusions these men draw from watching this Playing for Change video. I am from U.S. and grew up with this song, so, for me it always meant someone "having your back" standing with you even if life took a turn or someone turned against you. With Playing for Change a global sense of coming together for the expression of music and in a spirit of peaceful collaboration comes across. As one of the gentleman said something about, in your video, we are all much more alike than different...we can all work and enjoy together in collaboration with common ground.

The words "Playing For Change" in this context has a double meaning. The broader meaning, of course, is "changing the world by bringing people together with music". The second meaning is the fact that street musicians literally play for tips (pocket change). That strange "instrument" is actually an old fashion scrub board invented for washing clothes by hand. This song was just the first of many videos they made, with many more musicians from even more countries. Playing For Change has now released several albums.

One of my favourite pastimes is to view reaction videos from folks who are unfamiliar with the musicians/artists. I really like these guys. By the way, I used to study and live close-by men from Pakistan and they were some of the most kindhearted men. We were able to enjoy the goat curry dish they cooked. In my country, fresh goat meat is very hard to come by, but they sourced it! AND, it was a spectacular gastronomic experience.

The first question was an odd one for me. Isn't bringing different people together with music what this channel is specifically about? It's also why I love these reactions, music is the universal language we all feel. Great review, thanks!
