I just wanted to say that Mehboob has inspired me. I live in a region of the US that has a lot of Spanish speakers and it warmed my heart to hear him learning English for us that it really lit a fire under me to learn Spanish so I can speak with the people near me. If they can learn English to live here, I want to learn Spanish for them. I’ve always wanted to before, but now I am going further with it than I ever have before. 💜

8:54 Y'all can learn to count to 10 in Punjabi/Urdu/Hindi with Naseeba: 1=ikk, 2= do, 3=tinn, 4=chaar, 5=panj, 6=chay, 7=sut, 8=ath, 9=now, 10=das (phonetic spellings vary, there's no standard version and with "th" the "h" is aspirated). My elderly Punjabi teacher said that her grandfather told her that when learning a language it's important to count to 10 and swear. She also taught me the most common swear word and it kind of came in handy when I watched a film where it appeared 13 times but wasn't translated in the subtitles. Correction: apparently it's in Urdu but sounds nearly identical to Punjabi and Hindi with an almost imperceptible difference in pronunciation, especially to western ears. If you follow Naseeba's pronunciation, a lot of Pakistani and Indian people will understand you.

One of funniest things I saw was on a try channel. Plastic wrapped ball of gifts, treats and money. Rolled into large ball of plastic wrap..saran wrap...they must unwrap to get gifts as fast as they can. While other person has to roll dice till gets doubles then they trade. And that person gets to unwrap large ball getting gifts til other person rolls doubles dice. They had lots of laughs and got prizes too.

Actually it's apparenty derived from a Latin word, camisia, which makes sense as Spanish is a Romance language and Romance languages have a lot of basis in Latin words. But it's super interesting how the word is so close to the Arabic word!
