These breakfasts are from when farming was the main industry. Farmers would get up at sunrise and go out to tend to their animals and milk the cows. Then they would come in for breakfast and because they had been working for several hours it was a large one. As a boy I would stay on a cousins farm and he would bring in 2 quarts of milk from the morning milking at breakfast.

I grew up in Ireland and never saw a black bean there, only baked beans ( pinto beans in tomato sauce, usually Heinz ) the fried bacon and sausages ( together with black or white pudding ) are staple with a fried egg and fried potato wedges , mushrooms are new... I usually had porridge or Corn Flakes with toast and a fried egg.. and a cup of tea with milk... I could never eat meat for breakfast and don`t eat it at all now. I noticed that none of the participants touched the yolks of their fried egg and understand that they tend to have concerns about "uncooked" food and prefer everything to be extremely well done. For future videos that have eggs as part of the meal, I honestly don't think it would hurt most dishes if the eggs were flipped and cooked in an "over easy" style or even had "hard cooked" yolks. Of course, I can't speak for everyone, but I feel that the majority of us want them to fully enjoy the experience of trying new foods. And yes, there will always be a couple of folks in the comments who'll complain about one thing or another, but I truly feel that most viewers would be totally OK if there were some minor exceptions made to suit their tastes. 😊

But when you got to do the same in freezing conditions, or wet conditions, you need powerful food. Food that will keep you satiated and working for many hours between each meal. You should try showing them oatmeal porridge. 2 parts oatmeal to 3 parts water, add a pinch of salt as it boils, and presto. Oatmeal porridge. sprinkle with sugar on top for taste, or add milk. There seems to be frequent confusion regarding the sources of the meals and snacks they are eating. It would be so simple and helpful for them to have a big globe in the studio, or even a large flat map on the wall (although the globe would give a much better perspective and avoid the "flat earth" myth) so they can be shown by someone who knows clearly, and see for themselves, the places in their world which provide the foods they try each time. They could also mark the places from which they have tried foods on the map. Tiny flags showing the design of each country's flag, or even colored pins would be fun! To have that perspective to draw from would help erase the furrowed brows and confusion I see when they are just told the name of another country, with absolutely no context or reference to its relation to their place in the world. I think it might even help add a sense of excitement for them to know something about the country before they experience the food for the first time. I'm sure it would alleviate that confusion, especially when they apparently felt that America is a part of Europe, or that the location of Ireland is also part of the European continent. Ireland is part of the Great Britain islands, not part of the larger European continent. To do this before taping would be a good idea. Or even include for their edification a short geographic style video, maybe 5 or 10 minutes long, covering the country in general, where and how that food is produced to which they have been introduced and what area of the country it comes from. Perhaps the city school system might be able to help provide information for your participants.

I enjoyed this with you. This is the kind of breakfast people in New Zealand, Australia, Britain, etc have on a weekend when they can relax and enjoy, without having to hurry to work, though some do have it daily. I enjoyed everyone's comments as they enjoyed this breakfast.

The trick is to cut a wee bit off each food item and pile them on your fork, you need to have the taste off everything all at once and a mug off tea to wash it down.

Traditional Irish breakfast, is made using black and white pudding, mushrooms, beens, sausages', bacon, eggs and hash browns, using either white or brown bread along with tea. No kidney beans, bachelor's, or hyzens red beans used.

search engines exist for this very purpose. and bookmarking recipes is an absolute must. I have tried some of their food and it is good! and it's simple too. had an Indian neighbour and she wouldnt stop feeding me! she introduced me to roti (fresh handmade ones) and roti out of a shop bought packet now, is a 'no'. and confectionary - no idea where she got it from, but, omg, it was so so good!! their sweets are always beautifully presented in a box. she also got me introduced to jaggery - more specifically, putting jaggery into a chai latte. the secret to a good chai latte is to have it hot and sweet and the spices blended when you use it. jaggery is unrefined cane sugar sold in blocks. you can either grate it or ruin your best knives cutting it. it has a super fresh taste to it. kids eat it like we'd eat sweets! it's a whole other world of flavour - your taste buds will appreciate it. and it's not all curries! 👍

ROFL " The reason westerners are so white because they eat such delicious food" 8:52 I about fell out of my chair laughing. We are white because we dont go out into the sun as much as other cultures, and we dont have the harsh hot scorching sun here as some other countries have.

I’ve had a number of breakfasts in Ireland and not one of them had beans. They did, however, have black and white puddings and I was really looking forward to seeing their reactions to it. What a shame you did not include it. It’s probably the most traditional thing on an Irish breakfast plate.

What a lot of meat. What an enormous breakfast. Most people in the Netherlands don’t eat that much and it’s totally different. We eat bread with cheese or peanut butter or jam or chocolate sprinkles. Maybe a cooked or fried egg. And we drink tea or coffee or milk.
