I thought that looked lovely till you had to climb Leith hill! I've done it as a half marathon (brutal) and I can't imagine doing it at the end of a 50k, well done 💪

I did the HM course on Saturday. Maverick are always really good at organising the events and marking out the route. Well done for making the ultra look easy!

Thanks! Congrats on the half. Yeah, I was very impressed with their events. Might look at running some more of their races in the next year or so.

Well done mate. I'm thinking of entering my first maverick race next saturday in suffolk. How easy were the signposts because it being my first trail marathon that's what i'm worried about... getting lost.

Thanks Daniel. Good luck with your race! Of the different events I've done, this race was easily the best signed. Multiple signs at each junction, and signs every few hundred metres. If you don't see a sign for a few minutes then you've probably taken a wrong turn so you just back track to see previous sign. I had the route on my watch and didn't use it. You'll also probably have other runners nearby for most of the race and they have marshals at the big junctions. They said they make a big effort to make the route easy to follow and that reflects my experience.

Great work James! 👏 Looked like a lovely course. You looked pretty fresh at the end - must be all the track work making your 50k pace feel super easy! Be interesting to see how you'd do at the Hurtwood 50k this year compared to previous years. Tempted? I'm running it this year - would be great to see you there!

Thanks Paul! Definitely tempted to return to the Hurtwood but I think I need a long training block without any long races. Been back to back ultras for nearly a year now and I think I need to make a few adjustments to improve my fitness. I might change my mind though, would love to see the difference. Good luck with the race!

Nicely done mate. For the video and your race! As a fellow content creator, I have to ask you about that colour filter you seemed to use there. Did you create that yourself or was it some kind of preset? I liked it btw, a nice warm fuzzy feeling to it!

Thanks Phil. I've been playing around with colour grading in Davinci resolve. The main tweak on this footage was a LUT from Niklas Christl - not the cheapest LUTs in the world but they are quite nice pastel colours.
