Akan is a very complex society. Commenting on Akan culture from far away might lead to a dead end. 1. All Akans speak Twi! That’s their native language. So Fante, Bono, Asante, Akuapem, Nzima, Akyem etc etc all speaks Twi with different intonations. So Fante is not different from Twi but spoken with Fante intonation! Also not the difference between Akan and Asante. Akan is the whole and Asante is a piece within the whole. So the whole Akan is not Asante! You misrepresenting both. Adinkra is originally from the Bono group and was taken to Asante. Bono is the first Akan state where all the other Akan groups emigrated to form separate states. And don’t forget Asante is not a tribe but an Akan group. There are no tribes within Akan. The tribe is Akan! Akans live in groups! Asante is the largest group of the Akans, there you are right!

Like in both sides of my family but idk I’m reconnecting with my Ghanaian culture and researching it myself since my parents picked and chose what to introduce me to. I can’t speak any of the languages but through context clues i can follow conversations in Ga and i can just mostly say Twi and Ga insults. That’s the extent of my linguistic expertise in Ghanaian languages. I was raised in a rural american suburbs so not many Ghanaians let alone black people lived where i grew up.

As a Nigerian 🇳🇬 with a Hausa/ Fulani mother, Hausas are ORIGINATED from Nigeria and are INDIGENOUS to Nigeria. They are the largest ethnic group in Nigeria, where their home is. You can find them in other parts of Africa where they migrated to, so I find it odd that you mention Hausa as a tribe when it’s NON INDIGENOUS to Ghana and they are less than 1% (0.01) living in Ghana.

Are Fante people European if so how much percent
@britneyafrica3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t necessarily say Fante people are European, but that Due to Fante’s living in and around the coastal region, they were the first to be exposed to Europeans. I’m not sure of the dynamics but it’s fair to say a fair few Fante’s intermarried, and worked for Europeans adopting their English names, hence why you could say Not all but many Fante’s have English sounding surnames. So if you are asking about DNA percentage I can’t say that Fante’s have European blood but would most probably be a very small amount in the Fante Population. Hope this helped ❤️

Pls don't confuse people when it comes to history for there are many historians online in ghana and abroad because the Akans were many in those day 1600 before Osei Tutu form the collation in 1701. At that time all the small small Akan town were on their own independent e.i like Mampong,Akrokyere,Bowesango, Formina,Abankeseiso banso,Twifo, Juakobu,Kwaaman, Kokofo, Kumawu,Offiso,Juabin, except the Fante's who were at the southern coast and there were nothing like Kumasi or Asanti till Kofi Osei Tutu's war in 1701( asa n'ti ) Read Denkyira making the Asanti kingdom online pls, thanks .

When it comes to tribes there is so much misinformation such that it is sickening. The tribes in Ghana will never never never love one another and tribal tensions will forever dominate politics, government and social life. This obviously makes the future bleak since no tribe will like to be dominated by another tribe. Europe tried to build nations comprising of tribal or ethnic groups like in former Yugoslavia, Checkoslovakia and others. They all failed. So will the Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya and others also fail in the near future. If Africans are wise and adopt the Swiss, Indian, American systems maybe we can have a future.
@britneyafrica3 жыл бұрын
Definitely agree with some of what you are saying, but do you really believe tribal tensions will never end ?! If Ghanaians can do one thing it’s definitely come together in times when we need each other 👌🏾🤞🏾sure there are differences but I think we can say we appreciate those differences, when it comes to the political aspect of tribal tensions Im not too knowledgeable, but thanks for your insight 🙏🏾🙏🏾 hope you subscribed ❤️

@@britneyafrica Let us have strong Ghana like strong Switzerland, strong India, strong UK, strong US etc with each tribe maintaining it's language and identity under a government running a free market economy drawing from the economic strength that all the constituent tribes bring to a United Ghana with economic and financial destiny. Switzerland should be our model.
@britneyafrica3 жыл бұрын
Definitely agree here, if there is anything that can make Ghana stronger it should happen ❤️😌 what do you think Ghana could exactly to become stronger as a nation ?💪🏾
@jamesfranksontettey26773 жыл бұрын
@@britneyafrica It is simple. Let us draw on the peculiar strengths of the constituent tribes to build a vibrant nation. Not a country where Ashantis for example want so much to dominate else we will definitely go the way of Cote D'Ivoire and Nigeria, I am afraid. Let's take a look at what Mahama did and what Akufo Addo is doing now. It is very sad. When will Africans learn. Today almost all government top posts are held by Ashantis and Akyems not even Fantis their cousins. Mahama did the same. Our colonizers really did us a lot of harm by the way African countries are presently constituted. We just can't develop in harmony with this situation. Cote D'Ivoire went very far but Tribalism has now destroyed everything. Look at Germany and Switzerland and see how they are constituted. No tribe in Germany and Switzerland feels threatened by another tribe.
@britneyafrica3 жыл бұрын
Wow!, you are very knowledgeable in this area. Corruption and implicit tribalism also has a role to play in the posts held more by a certain tribe. It definitely is unfair. I do believe that Ghana, with all it's issue's is as peaceful as there can be. Don't you believe there is a greatness in Ghana being different to the west or the countries you mentioned we should be more like!
@africantruth25393 жыл бұрын
Asantes and Fantes are not tribes but belong both to the Akan tribe. The Ewes and other tribes also have subgroups but you and many others don't called them tribes. It is only when it comes to Akan subgroups you do that. Neither Fante nor Twi are languages. Rather they are dialects of the Akan languages. You are doing a good job but have to be accurate.
@britneyafrica3 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for your comment. this is exactly what i was trying to convey. My wording may have miscommunicated this.
