I am so happy to see them eat an Austrian Mohnstrudel and most of them enjoyed it. Of course no opium is in the seeds. Our strudels can be filled with apples , nuts, poppy seeds, sweet cheese and different cremes. Most famous Austrian strudel is filled with apples, nuts, raisins, bread crumbs and rolled in such thin dough , that you could read even a newspaper below. In Austria we have also sweet rolls, there are called Schaumrollen. They are made of puff pastry and filled with a white of the egg mixed with sugar.

a lot of countries have what can be termed a cream roll. in the US the term swiss roll or swiss log is used which means a chocolate roll filled with vanilla ice cream.

My grandma used to prepare these almost each week and my mother sometimes bakes them here in Slovenia (neighbouring country with Austria). Our grand mothers were also preparing similar cakes with walnuts. It looks the same only we add walnuts added into the cake instead of poppy seeds... The traditional Slovenian cake is called Orehova potica (cake with walnuts instead of poppy seeds. You should also try our Prekmurska gibanica with poppy seeds, walnuts and with Quark (dairy product)

well they do actually take a proper bite instead of take it apart (when the ingredients are meant to be consumed together) or just nibble on the outer most edge of the dish which isn't where the base of the meal is. they aren't picky eaters that is for sure

morphine for one is a positive since it is a medicine. the seeds and oil made from the seeds are used for a lot of things in western culture. varnishes, paints, and soaps all can be made with poppy seed oil. poppy seeds can be made into salad dressing.

@@wmw.afghanistan American cornbread has various differences from region to region. southern cornbread tends to be savory and made using cornmeal and buttermilk. you would have to make recipes halal by using vegetable oil or unsalted butter instead of pork bacon drippings or lard. northern cornbread tends to be sweat and more like a cake due to sugar and flour being used.

kinda surprised that many asian countries never thought to use the seeds or oil from the seeds in cuisine. for thousands of years various cultures have done so with many european baked goods today using poopy seeds as a filing. poppy seed bagels, muffins and some cakes are eaten in huge quantities in the United States. there is a big problem with false positives on drug tests from eating poppy seeds. you have to have a more expensive test to show the initial test was a false positive.

Food In 2018, world production of poppy seeds for consumption was 76,240 tonnes, led by the Turkey with 35% of the world total (table). Poppy seed production and trade are susceptible to fluctuations mainly due to unstable yields. The performance of most genotypes of "Papaver somniferum" is very susceptible to environmental changes[40] This behaviour led to a stagnation of the poppy seed market value between 2008-2009 as a consequence of high stock levels, bad weather and poor quality.[41] The world leading importer of poppy seed is India (16 000 tonnes), followed by Russia, Poland and Germany.[42] Poppy seed oil remains a niche product due to the lower yield compared to conventional oil crops.[43] Medicine Australia (Tasmania), Turkey and India are the major producers of poppy for medicinal purposes and poppy-based drugs, such as morphine or codeine.[44][15] The New York Times reported, in 2014, that Tasmania was the largest producer of the poppy cultivars used for thebaine (85% of the world's supply) and oripavine (100% of the world's supply) production. Tasmania also had 25% of the world's opium and codeine production en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Papaver_somniferum
