Roslyn Heyward, I just saw the newer version of the Shaft movie with Samuel Jackson, and her. Her son (Mikai Pfeifer) was killed by a racist thug whose rich daddy kept bailing him out of jail and other trouble when he committed a crime and she got tired of seeing him get away with them especially with murdering her son and she got a gun, waited outside when he came out of court and popped a cap in him. I love justifiable endings like that. 😉😊

Some of these people were very young. Sad they are gone. I was surprised no mention of Otis Redding. He was becoming well known when I was in the service. One of my pals had a battery powered record player. When we were at base camp in Chu Lai, Vietnam he played music. That was in 1967. We were listening to one of Otis's songs when a guy came running in and said, "Dammit, Otis' plane went down in Madison, WI." I about lost it, that is my hometown. Right before Christmas. Bad news.

I could not help but cry!! I thought it was Whitney that was singing the song, but it is her friend CeCe. I am so proud to belong to a group of people that has suffered so much in this country of ours, but yet, we have always found a way to make lemonade out of lemons. Survivors, yes, that is what we are!! There will never be any other group of people who can or will possess the talent that African Americans had or have. Yes, I am proud of all of them!!
@amandaamelia82355 жыл бұрын
Rondar623, well said. I definitely agree. There's no other group or race of people as creative and talented like our black race. We're the most culturally influential race, so much that most or all other race copy us in hair style, dance, music (Jazz, Blues, rock-'n'-roll which they wrongfully claim that Elvis Presley is King of) , rhythm and blues and even lanuage slang and catch phrases. I remember when 2-live crew were getting a lot of backlash from a lot of white people about rap music, and now look at them, they've come up with vanilla ice and eminem 'n em' white rappers and some wanna be rappers. Now there's reggaeton which consists of Latino hip hop rappers...etc. There's new kids on the block and others like NSinc who harmonize like black singers in the 70's and 80's... singers like Britney Spears for example, who sings and dance like Janet Jackson, just to name a few. It's ironic that the black culture is the most influential all over the world, but yet it's the most despised and oppressed according to the afro centric singing group; "The sounds of Blackness". I concur with you in that I too, am proud to be part of a group of people that has survived so many trials and tribulations and mistreatments from other races, yet still survive and continue influencing them with creative skills that others love to follow. 😍😄
