I agree one of the best rock drummer and one of the best southern rock bands. R.I.P. Jackson🙏 I saw Blackfoot live in concert right after Jackson passed and Rickey left with Bobby Barth on lead vocals and guitar.

Saw him in St. Louis back in the late 70's opening up for Ted Nugent. Did not know anything about them but been a fan since. Ricky and the band were awesone but I was really taken aback by Thunderfoot. I only wish they had some quality stuff here on youtube so that everyone could experience his command of the stage. Haven't seen anything better in almost 40 years

I met Jakson in 1985 in a hotel bar after Blackfoot played the Toledo Sports Arena with Molly Hatchet. He took the time to sit down with me for about an hour to shoot the breeze with a fan. It's one of my most cherished memories. He was a great man.

Met Jakson at a little bar in Charlotte Michigan when he toured with the Dixie All-Stars. Very gracious man. "Friendly" is an understatement. Unlike Dave Hlubeck (Molly Hatchet), Jakson took the time to chat with anyone that approached him after the show. He had a briefcase full of Indian "jewelry" that he made. I bought a couple leather wristbands from him and he threw in an autographed drum stick.

Jakson Thunderfoot Spires, I first heard your drumming on Blackfoot's "Highway Song Live". As a guitarist and bass player I was immediately aware of your great playing, very exact but with a sorta "fun" blend to it. That's a special drummer! You're missed!

My father and him were friends enough for me to call him uncle Jakson until he passed. When my mom was pregnant with me i used to dance in her tummy to the beat of his drums. My father misses him alot I showed him this and he was in tears.

Thank you Jackson spires you were a quietly influential wonderful drummer for us city kids in Dublin Ireland back in the day and us lucky cats loved all the albums from Tomcattin onwards and we saw Blackfoot a number of times in Ireland and UK. RIP dude

Thanks for posting this. Very nice tribute!! Jakson was a big influence of mine and I got to see Blackfoot play live quite a few times. I had the privilege of meeting Jakson and got to talk to him for about a half an hour. After the show, he showed me, and let me play his snare drum. I think it was copper (it was very heavy). Thanks again, I enjoyed this very much!!!

I never had the priveledge of seeing Blackfoot with Ricky, but I did have the priveledge of seeing them with Dave Hlubek singing and playing. Greg, Charlie and Jakson (w/ Dave) were called the "Dixie All-Stars' back in 89 or 90. They were all great guys. Jakson and Greg were two of the most laid back guys I ever had the pleasure to meet. Charlie was just cool as hell. Great memories. RIP Jakson...

I too saw the "Dixie All-stars" at a little bar in Charlotte (pronounced shar-lot) Michigan about the same time. Dave Hlubeck was along for the ride but I forgot who else was playing with the band. I do know that its was not any other members of Blackfoot. Maybe a couple members of the Rossington-Collins Band? Dave refused to autograph a CD for me until I bought one of their $30 t-shirts. Jakson, on the other hand, was a pleasure to talk to. He autographed a drum stick for me. He was making Indian jewelry on the road, of which I purchased a couple wrist bands from him. I didnt realize, till I saw this video, that Jakson had passed away. Sad. He was a wonderful human being.

Lots of groups have one or no original members left. If you get one hit song you can make a living the rest of your life playing at fairs, casino's etc. Ricky does play with the new rendition of Blackfoot now and then when he isn't on tour and my guess is he owns the rights. It's all business and if the musicians are good and the fans see a good show and makes them feel good then no harm done. The entertainment business is about the fans. With out them they have nothing.

I will never forget Blackfoot! It's time for LS to retire .Enough already! It is not the same people that made LS the best band they were ...not are! Sorry. I call them as I see them! I rather hear Blackfoot than LS at this point! They were what rock n roll was all about, not this new Blackfoot either, they aren't going to be around much longer, everybody I mentioned them to, agree with me! They're nothing like the original band!
