This game has the immense honor in me for allowing my first victory against my father. I was like 10 or 12. He was atreides, I was harkonnen. I used the gunships (not the platform ones, the omnithopter equivalents!) to raid his base. He struck back in the next game but damn! it felt so good!

damn that takes me back.. Mine was in the first Battle for Middle-Earth game. My dad's a big Rohan fan, I never managed to beat him. Not as Rohan, not as Gondor, not as Mordor.. but then one time I played as Isengard (..big surprise, Isengard having counters for Rohan. Smoll me just never realized). Kept the main force back just out of reach, and when my dad came in for what would usually be the finishing blow on my base, brought out the "reservers" and sent him into a retreat. I dont even know if that match ended in a victory for me or not, but that little victory alone will forever remain etched in my memory

Whateverguy I loved playing the Ordos for their laser tanks. Such a great unit, superior to all its equivalents in speed, rate of fire, plus it was shielded. I'd build a shitload of those and rush the enemy with them, who was too slow to react. Loved the variety of Harkonnen units, but the davastator was total shit. Who the fuck thought of making the strongest unit in the game so slow that it's simply useless in battle?

Witnessing your harkonnen troops storming across the battlefield for a surprise rush attack while the enemy harvester gets eaten by a sandworm and this music plays in the background truly makes for an unique feel and gaming experience I haven't seen since. It's almost poetic.

If I could make a sequel to this game, it would hybridize the David Lynch and Denis Villeneuve aesthetic for the game. I'm talking from personal experience. Personally, whenever I had to defend my base against an onslaught of computer opponents, the Minotaur always dealt huge amounts of monetary damage compared to their original cost. And I almost never lost minotaurs to worms. Maybe I was lucky? I always lost my Devastators within 5 seconds of sending more than two out at a time. I actually tested that theory out a few times, much to the unhappiness of my troops I bet!

I'm 16 and began playing the game when I was seven. Throughout my experience in the game I found that the easiest faction to play as overall was the Atredies, not only because their prices were pretty balanced out, but their units had too much punch for their low costs. The most difficult faction to grasp hold of in my opinion was the Ordos, however when played properly they were the best one there was. Harkonnen was good but in the end I felt like I was killing myself by sending in fodder.

Actually, Harkonnen has best tanks in game and worst infantry ever seen (expect firebats), but Harkonnen units is most expensive. Assault Tank has 2400 HP, Devastator - 5000, and Minotaur, hardest non-Harkonnen unit has 2600 HP. Ordos good at early rushes and taking down harvesters. I play several games as Ordos against human, and often my opponent can't build up army and base thanks to Laser Tanks (best unit in game! not very hardy, but attack and speed are amazing!), so they lose game. ^^
