We recorded these videos two weeks after Rush-drummer Neil "S.S. The Professor" Peart died on January 7, 2020. A shockwave of sadness and regret shared among musicians and fans went over the entire planet.
More than appropriate, Russ wanted to give Neil a tribute by talking about what he 'stole' and learned from one of the most influential drummers of the past four decades. Then he pays even more tribute to the legendary Rush drummer by playing a drum solo in Neil Peart his unique and groundbreaking playing style.

Yes so true what you say. I as a drummer picked up another 2 things from his playing that I never really heard any other drummer do or do like him. His use of hi hat open and close technique between beats and the quick alternations between ride and China very evident in the end part of Subdivisions. I found myself using the hi hat technique subconsciously but the ride China technique consciously. Cheers!
