Very classy that Eastenders acknowledged Tony Warren considering that June Brown had a small part on Coronation Street before playing Dot Cotton on Eastenders.

In his own way Tony Warren was to Coronation Street what Bill Bell was to US Soaps. He either wrote or Co-Created Another World, As The World Turns, Guiding Light but he achieved Superstar Status when he created The Young & The Restless in 1973 and then The Bold & The Beautiful in 1987.

The Reporter made a mistake. Although Coronation Street was the Longest Running UK Serial, The "Longest" overall was The US Soap Opera Guiding Light. It debuted in 1937, made the transition to TV in 1952 and went off the air in 2009. Now in terms of TV Coronation Street did outlive Guiding Light.
