Hi watching from the UK. Not many people know it but the origin of chicken tikka masala is that it was invented in Britain, probably by a Bangladesh chef. Here in the UK chicken tikka masala has the number one best takeaway dish for many many years. It beat fish and chips. Easily. I guess we're a small country that has benefitted from our diversity. Every town and even small village is only a stones throw from fantastic Chinese, Pakistani and Indian food. Thank god. Without getting into politics I personally am thankful to all those who took a chance and brought their food here. So much so that I can happily recommend a trip to the UK purely to eat. I'm visiting Boston Mass soon (first trip to the States) and I'm looking forward to the whole food trip. Particularly beef franks. Just can't get a good hotdog here. Well you can if you find a good Polish/eastern European store, which is easy in the bigger towns. I love trying stuff that's out of the blue. Apart from octopus. I gave it a go but I'm not convinced!

I’m not sure if anyone else on here has mentioned it yet but chicken tikka masala is actually an English dish and is so popular that it is now considered one of our national dishes, glad you like it 👍
@buttercupp_9 ай бұрын
Nooo that's not true as an Indian calling chicken tikka masala a Britain dish is straight up bs m sorry 😂😂😂 it was popularized in Britain but it was absolutely made by indian cooks , the spices and all are all from India so it's an Indian dish. And secondly it's funny because the prime minister is Indian so they put an Indian dish as national although alot of them have never even tried Indian.
@musungumat9 ай бұрын
Your laughing mojos just expose your ignorance, it doesn’t matter that the chef may have been of Indian heritage but the dish was developed in Birmingham England for the English palate therefore it is an English dish, you can’t find chicken tikka masala for sale in India.
@buttercupp_9 ай бұрын
@@musungumat "chicken tikka masala cannot be found for sale in india" , it's literally in every North India restuarant, here in my place almost all the restaurants have that dish( I'm not from North India I'm from the east) . First do your research. Also, chicken tikka IS an Indian dish but it's usually dry, and the chicken tikka masala has had many claims ,some say it was made by chefs from India ( yeah they added a gravy for sm British people ) and some say it was first made by a Pakistani chef in Scotland , but I refuse to acknowledge the fact that you call it an "English dish" . Lol the British people not only stole trillions and tons of diamonds from us but now are tryna steal our food 👍🏼 I'm happy people around the world are trying them but chicken tikka is literally North Indian. I had it just a few days back, so yeah I refuse to acknowledge that although I know that it originated in British but it's sad they call it a British dish despite of the fact half of the British population didn't even know how to cook it until it got "trendy".

Indian food in the UK can vary from restaurant to restaurant - a butter chicken in one restaurant can be (and is usually) a mild dish. another restaurant and it can be spicy enough to take your breath away. I've had Chicken Tikka Masala that'll blow you away in one and is bland as anything in another. The Tikka Masala is a dish that originates in the UK because the original dish was considered to dry.

you go try pizza and Italians would say the same. Chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, roti, naan are proven to be the best foods cuz most of them love it including Indians. There is a reason to love it and to get that popular there is a genuine taste and reason to it. When someones picks a country they can only choose 5-10 dishes, you would do the same if I tell you to choose Japanese foods and the southern Japanese person might get butthurt like you. They can't just go and choose some random food just because it's south Indian or East Indian until and unless there its popular and has a taste. Most south Indians love tikka masala, roti naan and stuff when they eat out.

They think foriegners know them, because they are the best. They dobt even know its because of the stereotypes that they used with. Some north indians knows that it was not right.
