Congratulations, may you have a long & happy life with your partner. I believe it was Joni Mitchell that said about people with multiple partners that they're actually just looking for themselves in the mirror which is, of course, very superficial. Once people have cultivated a deep knowledge of themselves, they seek a life partner w/ someone who's equally as deep. Her quote: "If you want endless repetition, hook up w/ a lot of different people. If you want infinite variety, stay with one" is one of my favorites.

I’m so glad you get that! I prefer to think of the money that flows through the drug world as play money, because I couldn’t have made money like that without using. You pretty much have to be crazy. Every time I tried to hustle sober, I’d just say, “No, sounds sketch.” “I don’t like the sound of this one. Pass.” Yes, slow money is better than no money, but it was so slow there wasn’t much point. Thankfully, that was in another lifetime now, but I remember it well. I used to beat myself up over how I could have been rich if I hadn’t used, but now I see the using and the hustling all goes together. There are a few notable exceptions, like there are to any rule but I think most have the same trouble I did.

Hey Kenny, if u read this, My parents got married in May of 1979 and are still together. I asked them once how they stayed together so long and have been faithful. Communication and trust is what they said. Without either, any relationship won't work
@asiatravel2010
@asiatravel2010 2 жыл бұрын
Kenny was right when he asked how, you are right when you explain about your parents. The reality is that many men cannot communicate openly with their lady, because their lady would not understand. They would judge them in the reflection of how they themselves would live, and struggle to understand the realities of the male mindset. We are so different. I have someone, she understands me better than anyone I have ever met - close to being able to communicate openly, but there are still gaps. I fear becoming like Kenny, because except for the drugs, unemployment and prostitution his story is essentially my own. Moving a lot, decent income, few or no friends, feeling the world is a cold place, not trusting others, being well spoken and finding it difficult to reach everyone around me because my life expectations are different. Kenny made sense to me in so many ways. I hope that he locks that money down until he recovers if his property assets get sold up.

@@asiatravel2010 Go to therapy , this goes back to sexual discipline. And, women have the same feelings too. Just different degrees just like not every man thinks exactly the same. There are women u cheat like crazy and have commitment issues also. Sometimes ppl just want validation man or woman. Se)( is set)( does it really matter if it's 100 ppl or just one person. I feel it's more of the mind then it is anything else. And I think there's more consequences for women when it comes to this. If society looked at se)( for women the same way they look at men. More sexual discipline would happen. Take responsibility for ur actions. Or simply don't get into a relationship

@@jessicapace9689 A very modernist response, I can tell a lot about you by the way you speak and the way you spell online - you are from the generation that feel nobody has the right to an opinion or observation if it disagrees with your own. I agree, to disagree with you. I do not need therapy, because I am comfortable with the way I am and do not have issues in my life - perhaps you need therapy to learn tolerance and understanding of others, both men and women. It appears you have some growing to do, spring chicken. Best of luck!

@@asiatravel2010 yeahh ok lolol u can't know someone by one response lol and also u came with an issue, all I said was a suggestion. Everyone should do therapy even more so the ppl who think they don't need it. Ur saying ur having connection issues maybe that's a conversation with ur girl , in therapy. From what I know sometimes there's a phycological reason. Sometimes. A outside party who's can think critically can help with that gap. Sometimes the things that are holding us back from understanding more is simply the facts that we can be biased. Although I'm aware that a small portion is because no one can truly walks in the shoes of another. I was simply pointing something out. But, I don't think u need to get shot to understand that a bullet can hurt lol. Basically , u don't always need someone to experience what u experienced. Because even if u got shot and the other person got shot ur experiences will always be different. Aka there's always a small part where someone can't understand. XD we just don't have hive minds like ants , we just think separately

He is so right...I was born and raised in Culver City....my childhood was great in la..My mother came from Mississippi like him in the late 70s and worked at the Broadway department store and my dad worked for Northrup. It wasn't until I got on my own in my late teens; that I experienced the cold game that this man is talking about. Friends weren't really friends...women sleeping with your man..men having the pimpology mentality from the rap music influence. I partied in Hollywood all the time; and I saw that even important people in the industry stayed in crappy places,,like people's garages..and all had roommates...I am so grateful that I moved the Arizona when I was in my early 20s...I was able to enjoy life and not stress out and it wasn't dog eat dog...the men I met were so giving; and they sincerely cared. I was able to buy a condo at an early age; and still able to travel around the world. The main thing that I got from this interview was how hard it is to live in la..and I am so happy that my mother met my father who married her and took care of her and they were a team. Before he met my mother he was scammed out of money and used by women...my mother was lucky because she was a small town girl who met a wonderful man and survived la. He was one of those few who never cheated on her. They are still in la now and have each other...unconditional love❤

Well, I like Kenny… I’m not sure why cause he’s got some issues, haha! From these interviews and others that I watch, I’m learning quite a lot about how our childhood, our culture, our education, etc. shapes our futures. I’m a 56 yo white Christian woman with conservative values from a small town in the middle of nowhere. Grew up above the poverty line, but certainly not middle class. Raised by a single parent. I have no idea who my biological father is or even how my mom knew him. I have a black brother in law and my brother was gay (he died 10 years ago from an accidental fall). I love them both very much and would fight to my death for either one of them. I was molested as a young child and kept it secret until I was 24 yo. Married at 20, still married to him after 36 years. I’ve been faithful to him and fully believe he has been faithful to me. We have a beautiful family and have built an amazing life together. We don’t drink, do drugs, or party. We enjoy our friendships, of which we have many…. Most are couples that like us, have been together for 30+ years. Sometimes we dance in the kitchen, sometimes we argue on the patio. What is it about humanity that makes us so different? I was fortunate to have a great support system who helped me to heal from the sexual abuse. I’m blessed to have a godly husband who is an incredible man, father, grandfather, and friend. I just wish what I have was available to everyone. Yes, we all go through stuff…sometimes bad stuff. Yet all of us are affected so differently and our coping mechanisms seem to dictate the outcome of our lives… Thanks for the interview, Kenny. I’m eager to hear more from you in a few months.

I dont think its fair to say that men and women are different like its excusing men who cheat. By his logic, if a woman cheats on a man, he'd excuse her behavior because he understands that monogamy is hard. Majority of the time men react very emotionally to being cheated on so men and women cant be that different. I dont think being faithful and wanting loyalty has much to do with emotions and more to do with respecting your partner, having consideration for the relationship and an understanding that actions have consequences. These traits are definitely more commonly found in women and I wonder why that is? It cant all be biological, surely societal expectations placed on men and women play a part. Monogamy is not for everyone and thats ok but what I find to be very common among people who cheat is the total disregard and lack of respect they have for their partner. If you want to be polyamorous, do it! - cheaters dont want this, they want a partner who isnt allowed to see other people outside of the relationship, they have just as many loyalty expectations on their partner! Sleeping with multiple people isnt the issue its the disrespect, dishonesty and the trauma it causes to the other partner thats the issue. It cant people years to get over trust issues from being cheated on, some people never get over it and carry trust issues with them throughout their relationships. Also, Believing yourself to be different from another group of people and using that belief to excuse your negative behavior towards that group, perpetuates inequality which you're actively taking part in.

KZbin comments is definitely not the place to have this conversation, but here goes…I think if we take care of our mental health and stay on a straight path with our work, our heart and try to be someone that our partner feels lucky to have in their lives there’s a great chance we’ll remain inspiring and attractive to our spouse. With these things in place we can better change, adapt and grow old together as a couple. The more we’re able to unconditionally love ourselves, the more we’ll be able to love our partner regardless of what they’re going through. I’ll add that the amount of hard work, courage and patience we think we’ll need to accomplish a task is roughly ten times greater than what we expect. This is a very oversimplified version of my thoughts on marriage. Just have tons of courage, work harder than your partner and pray for luck and you’ll both be happy for a long time. Our hormones get us into this and our strength and courage are what make it last.

1) Strength of character. A person with deep integrity won't cheat in any circumstance because they couldn't live with being that person, so no matter who they are with, they just couldn't take those actions for themselves. 2) Inability to hurt the person you love. Whether spouse, parent, child, best friend, if that person means enough, you would rather go through anything rather than intentionally cause them pain so if feeling that way about spouse, and kids in a family, easy to sacrifice yourself, or even endure pain, to prevent them from feeling pain because when you love someone, their life means more than petty wants. 3) knowing you will lose that person and feeling nothing is worth completely losing them from your life. When both partners are those people and feel those things, it's easy. It's like if someone asked most parents, would you take $100k but you have to lose your child, majority of parents would never. When having sex to lose the person you love most and your life together.. Managed about 25 yrs, as did he, until death do us part (he passed at 45). Best advice we got was don't expect other person to always make you happy. NO life is always happy and exciting every day for 80 years. That expectation doesn't exist. There will always be periods of struggle, boredom, stress, etc whether married for 80 yrs, forever single or having 5 marriages. When you keep falling in love with the same person over and over, remembering why you first feel in love with them, and owning that true happiness really comes from within us, not another's job, is when it works. Advice we gave to all newly married couples and what worked for us: Keep the fights clean and the sex dirty!!!......If you commit to staying respectful no matter how mad you get and always put effort in to keep the passion hot, chances are your marriage will work. That's keeping both the friendship and romantic connection alive, which is what a marriage needs to thrive. Many years of happiness to you!

Best of luck Kenny for once a story where the person isn't completely broken beyond repair. What a true parallel of how your childhood molds your future. The way he talked about his father and his childhood being pretty good. This alone says he can overcome his addiction it's like its for fun not a complete coping mechanism. Brilliant Mark showing the difference of someone being on drugs but with a different upbringing....without all of the trauma. I hope to see his next interview. Good luck 🤞 Kenny.

I’m talking more about this misinterpretation in the comments that suggest that he is a guy who quit his job to avoid paying child support and has been dodging it ever since. If you have a court order for child support and they start garnishing your wages and your tax refund, first is they take all your money, so you’re caught up. After that, you have two options - pay your monthly child support moving forward, or go to jail until you have a way to pay it. (Which is crazy because going to jail makes it more challenging to pay it in the future, considering employment issues, etc.) Once you stop paying it again, should whoever filed for child support inform the court, any police dept, any local sheriff, etc., that it’s not being paid, then a warrant for your arrest is issued on site. It’s a horrible system, but that’s how it is, in every state. The law is not concerned with HOW you pay for it or where it comes from. But it must be paid. There’s no getting out of it. So if this guy was not in prison, then obviously the child support was being paid - or he’s had a warrant for his arrest since 92-93, and still has a warrant up until this day - yet somehow managed to hide in plain sight that entire time. Which we know isn’t the case because he talks about seeing his kids, making sure his kids were taken care of and giving his kids money. He is most likely telling us that his 9-5 job wasn’t cutting it to sustain his lifestyle and pay for child support (which is the case for too many men, unfortunately). There’s no way you can live in Southern California, work in retail, pay child support (equal to a house note in other states), and afford his vices or addictions (prostitutes and drugs.) For an addict, there’s not enough time in the day to work two jobs and sustain that lifestyle. So getting another job isn’t an option they consider seriously. So he is telling us that he quit working a regular job to hustle and sell dope in order to do what he had to do and make ends meet - which includes paying his monthly child support. Again, no one cares where the money comes from. If they are taking your tax refund, then you're going to jail the moment you miss a monthly payment. If he gets stopped by the cops for anything, even a broken tail light, he would go to jail if the support wasn’t paid. Even if the child support order was issued in Mississippi, that database is national and instantly pops up in any state and every background check. Child support is not a car note or a mortgage. You can’t even file bankruptcy and avoid child support. Paying child support is a moral and legal responsibility. But for everyone paying it, whether they know it or not, paying it is also a “stay out of jail” card. This guy is the type to know that paying it keeps him out of jail. You don’t pay your car note; you lose your car. You don’t pay child support after they garnish your income, then you lose your freedom.

I understand it. My father had problems with drugs, but he loved his kids. I wish I had always been so understanding. I hurt my father by judging him, because I felt hurt and pushed aside, at times. Early in life, I was the most anti-drug but, later in life, I developed the same mental health and chemical dependency problems he had. I got through it, but it’s too late to tell him I’m sorry and I understand. But I can help other people, so that’s what I’m studying to do. I want to give them what he never had, and what one good counselor (at the 5th and last treatment I went to) gave me, unconditional acceptance and understanding. Science is just beginning to really understand addiction. Soon people will know it’s not a party or a character flaw, and could happen to anyone. Blessings to you!

Kenny is probably a really handsom man when he cleans up. He seems like he is a good guy AWAY from the crack. Kenny, if you see this, you have to stop chasing that high that you will never get again. You don't realize the damage you are doing to you body & you are no spring chicken anymore. Ask Mark to help you with therapy. You need to understand why you want a woman that you can't obtain pleasure from & a drug that will never provide that initial high. I can't wait for the follow up.
