To be perfectly clear, the marks between the 1/16ths are even more accurate. I know guys say they don’t have those marks. You can see what’s half way between easy. If you wanna say heavy or shy, big or little all good, just be attentive to the measurements. Makes everything easier, in the long run. The difference between pro and diy is time not quality.

Walls are framed on the floor square, stood up, and often need to be pulled plumb.

Nothings short most framers leave material back 1/4 so you’re not fighting a wall and everything is plumbed up with bracing after walls, before roof trusses

It's a top plate, just nail it down. That gap would actually probably prevent creaking or cracking problems later😂

Im curious if that pulled the overhang out of plumb and level. Gaps are fine for miniscule gaps on non load bearing ends. Shims are a thing to make up for a miniscule miscut.

Simple trick to get your intersecting plates tight…hold the first stud 1/4” away from the end of the plate. Then you nail it tight together and you won’t have a top plate gap!

What i do here is take a 2x12 about 18 inches long, lay it flat ontop with the connections centered beneath it, and trace the connection. Cut it out and you have a perfect connector for all 3 walls, then fill in the rest of the top plates on the 3 walls. Much faster than all those angles, and stronger. Nice work though nonetheless.

You actually wanna shoot those nails in the other direction from what u did.. the wall you pulled to the corner is tring to pull those nails right back to where the wall wants to be.. u shot those nails so they ran in a somewhat paralell orientation to that force, and what you want to do is put them in at a somewhat perpendicular way..

How about just cutting the wood the right length? After a few seasons the stress from the tension will cause cracking and failure.
