I like how the more sizeable enemies (those being Emporer Bulblax, Arctic Cannon Beetle, and Crusted Rumpup) actually take two bomb rocks instead of one and get stunned for a short while after the first rock

That's actually the intended way to beat Emperor Bulblax in the first Pikmin game; bait him into eating a bomb, then beat him up while he's stunned.

You can do the same thing with the ice bombs, although this is considerably less useful on certain enemies since all it does is freeze them. The only thing I’d say tricking an enemy into eating a freeze bomb is useful for is that it’s a guaranteed freeze in one blast as opposed to sometimes needing more than one

It’s useful when you don’t have Ice Pikmin in your squad, and the freeze ignores armor in some enemies, meaning their entire body can be attacked by Pikmin more easily
