we called this the rock of gibraltar drill..when one develops the tenacity to endure what ever the top man throws @ u it definitely enhances your confidence that u can't b broken down making your bottom moves more effective..hand creating separation is out the back door..we typically train to drop the shoulder also..like the leg defense but for me the best defense is to make your bottom moves explosive & not stop moving until one is out..the other is to catch the leg coming in..elevate the hips n hook the head..like the bloopers @ the end

leap frog would be easy to break down, and the separating the body with the arm bottom trick leads to a head lever or even easier an arm bar. And when you had them do the 2 on 1 breaking demonstration, yeah the elbow works but so does the other one, if you use the momentum of the leverage of the hand breaking to then "roll out" your wrists, freeing them; and then you can sit out/stand up and hip heist away.
@aidenbyrd15252 жыл бұрын
A lot of these moves are supposed to be very fast usually catching the opponent off guard preparing for something else and the lever is a possibility but that’s why you have to move fast enough to use the arm bottom truck

Don’t move off the whistle, biggest mistake .Wait for guy on top to make a mistake, and capitalize. Never stay stagnant with your power output. Bait and switch is key. Same with speed, move slower than your max speed output, and force the mistake. Once the mistake is made max effort must be applied. I guarantee you it works, and works well.
@team3gaming7495 жыл бұрын
Ally Yana Thank You for this. I’m a new wrestler. I have a question though. Why isn’t moving off the whistler in stand up a good thing? Can’t you capitalize off of them not being ready?
@allyyana96635 жыл бұрын
It depends. I’m not saying exploding off the whistle isn’t going to work. It will work depending on your skill level, and your opponents level. It’s all experience, and feeling different positions. I would start drilling a lot from top, and bottom. Practice starting on both sides from the top position. Obviously, practice your stand ups, sit outs, Peterson’s, switches. But, the most beneficial drills will come from not trying to escape immediately, have multiple partners cycle through on top position. Drill 15 minutes straight on bottom, practice creating openings, and not getting into disadvantageous positions. Trying to create hip separation is going to be key. I would say you should, wrestle, wrestle, and then wrestle some more. If you want it, get it. Put the work in. What state are you in?

You'll never know unless you try. As a female wrestler I have always found the wrestling community to be very supportive and if nothing else it's great exercise. However I will say that it isn't for everyone and that it takes lots of hard work and dedication on your part and some people just aren't up for that. If you do go out, best of luck to you and I hope that your season goes well.

Question. How does a wrestler defend against a punch? You know, if a wrestler was in a street fight.
@maxwellmedley18807 жыл бұрын
You’d have to study bobbing and weaving, which is a boxing technique. Because you can’t punch in wrestling, there’s no wrestling move to defend a punch. However, wrestling can still definitely be used in a street fight and is absolutely unstoppable when paired with boxing and BJJ.
@lanii75357 жыл бұрын
Take the hit then grab and crook them hard and ram their teeth into the concrete. Self defense (can't get arrested)and chances are if you do it quick they won't be able to stop you. If that doesn't work and they swing before you can pull them just grab them by the hips and fucking throw them on their back.

MessiahWrestling wrestling and coaching are two very different things. I guarantee he's focused way more own and control then he presented in this clinic
@Spark-In-The-Dark8 жыл бұрын
Corkscrews are done from the bottom position unless you call another move a corkscrew. Hand control is the key to escaping any good top Ressler and elbows should be kept very tight to the ribs to prevent the opponent from getting underneath your arms
@MessiahWrestling8 жыл бұрын
True, but we have employed some of these techniques and more importantly principles on our team (I'm a coach) since this clinic and we have gotten better on bottom as a result. This video of course doesn't contain all of the answers or a magic pill, but some good principles to add to a solid foundation of bottom wrestling.
