since the feel of br is much its own thing i wanted caverns to just be a glorified dd1 homage but with something really heavy and unique aka screaming and to be the hardest of all main areas excluding br itself

I have listened to the catacombs and exposed interior themes quite a lot while playing, and while they were good and felt fitting for the area, I didn't feel the same punch that the original soundtrack delivered in their combat themes. I couldn't really tell you what you did differently for this theme, but after the first fight I HAD to look it up to listen again. Then I found the darkness theme and...I can't stop listening, you nailed it.

A mod doesn’t have the right to have a soundtrack that slaps as hard as the actual game but damn the soundtrack to black reliquary absolutely goes beyond the call of duty! Keep up the awesome work!

Absolutely has no right to go as hard as it does. This is, in my opinion, the best theme for an area in all of DD(main game or otherwise). I find myself comparing it to the low light warrens theme a lot. The usage of enemy vocals is present in both, but the Warrens theme only sounds like the squeals of the unumbered hoard of swinefolk are overtaking the soundtrack to our battle, creating a sense of dread. But here and in the game, as the torch fades, we realize that it was never the soundtrack to our battle at all. The roars and chants of the trogladytes echo out to the beat of their terrible drums, and at the climax (like at 1:58) a guttural roar rings out, I imagine as some goliath bug man charges out of some dark crevice, covered in blood, dimly lit by the glow of the amber. Fantastic work, perfectly captured what what I imagine its like to descend into the cavernous home of an aggressive tribe of primitive bug men.

Probably my favorite track from BR. I have others favorites like Janissary, Yngolian, or Sand Charmer, but this one is so intense, especially the breathtaking part followed by the gutural vocals, this part is so intense, I almost play cavernes no torch only for this (almost)
