Sorry sir I didn't understand, if July ends on 31st as Monday then August start from Tuesday and 1st Thursday comes on 3rd then 31+3 can't be 38. Can anyone clarify my doubt?

Yep, the wording is unclear, especially with the image of a calendar. 'The next month' implies consecutive and that we are supposed to be working out the second of the two months. It's actually talking about 3 months though - the previous month, the current month, and the future month. As soon as we look at consecutive months it is obviously impossible and the image shows only 2 calendar months so is confusing.

If it's any consolation, I find the hardest part of maths is trying to work out what they are even asking. The maths itself is okay, it's the way problems are presented that I find most confusing. 😄

August The difference between a Monday and the next Thursday is 3 days. For the said dates, it can be either 31 days or 38 days. With 31 days difference, you can't get a sum of 38, so the difference has to be 38. To get a sum of 38, the dates can't be 30 and 8 because the difference would be more than 31 days, so it must be 31 and 7. In order to have a difference of 31 days, the present month must have 31 days. In order to have two consecutive months of 31 days in the same year, the present month must be August. It took me about 2 minutes to work out, but much longer to write.

this happened in 2017 and this will happen in 2023, 2028 and once every 12 years approximately. Same as Sewing Machine, I guessed it couldn't happen around February, it had to be around July or August. Then I unpaused and listened to the so satisfying explanation.

Month=['feb', 'apr', 'jun','aug', 'sep','nov'] The answer from my side is, if any month from Month will ended on Thursday then we get next month's first Thursday on 7th- date, it means it depends upon the ending of current month and it can be any date respectively. Conclusion: If august doesn't end on Thursday, then it is not the answer. My question is : why should the aug ended on Thursday in ur explanation? Hope u will read and reply me, thank u.

Boss i got ur explanation .....but see the sum is 38 this will satisfy only 31+7 so obviously 31st last month must end at monday .if it is end on monday , obviously present month (i.e aug in our case ) will end on thursday. Simple ..hope u got it.....this puzzle is amazing....
