Third round of the 1995 500cc Motorcycle Grand Prix Season. Daryl Beattie wins a dramatic race after compatriot Mick Doohan goes off the track on the final lap of the race, relegating him to second place. This race was also the last for 1993 500cc World Champion Kevin Schwantz.

No way would they start a race in these conditions today. The Jules Bianchi accident has made these categories take stuff like this very seriously now.

Thanks! Darrell and Barry were always a treat to listen to during Nine’s 500cc telecasts. I don’t have the race anymore, but during the 1994 Japanese 500cc GP, Barry Sheene called Norick Abe “a hand grenade on wheels”. Too bad my mum stubbornly threw the tape the race was on in the garbage a few years ago.

i just realize how dumb the bike designs were back then LOL. the shield doesn't even cover the head and shoulders WTF?! they take so much wind in the face, never realized it until now. that's the kind of thing that makes me remember that tech evolved a lot and wind tunnels made a huge difference in the concept in the 2000's.
